Goodbye.
by Preston ini haven't posted regularly on this site in quite some time, but i just wanted to say to those i have known over the years how much i've appreciated your kindness and your advice.
my health has deteriorated over the past year i've been struggling with being ill. i have a heart defect that has made it hard for me to function and to work.
i feel its important to enjoy my life right now and spend less of it in the virtual world, and because of this i will no longer be posting.. thank you simon for allowing me to post to your site since 2001. this is my last post here and i have posted a similar note to another site.. i love all of you more than anything else in the world.. my email is tarkovskyfan at gmail dot com and if you want to keep in touch you may email me and i will respond.. p.s.

The candidates' favorite movies.
by Preston ini think someone's favorite movies tell alot about the individual so i found it interesting reading roger ebert's article about the candidates' favorite movies.. http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2008/09/the_candidates_favorite_movies.html.
john mccain: viva zapata!
some like it hot, letters from iwo jima.. barack obama: casablanca, the godfather i, ii, lawrence of arabia, one flew over the cuckoo's nest.. i found both of their choices to be fascinating.

Mickey Rourke's Comeback
by Preston ini read on drudge that the film "the wrestler" in which mickey rourke stars is getting a lot of good buzz and won the top award for best film.
i hope his comeback is marked by more good films than bad ones.
he is in fact an underrated actor.. .

Bruce Ivins, "the anthrax killer"... RIP.
by Preston inwas anybody creeped out by how quick the justice department was to blame bruce ivins for sending anthrax in the mail.
not to mention the media narrative thats been weaved around his life even though he is no longer alive?
it reminded me of how i left the jw's and "stories" would come up, trying to explain how "brother preston" fell into bad company, was tempted by sin and never came back, etc..... some news stories called him a homicidal maniac, and a "mad scientist".

Does "The Dark Knight" prove that Hollywood is kind of conservative?
by Preston ini saw "the dark knight" again last saturday and after a second viewing what suprised me is... how a film like this could have actually been made.. it tackles..... .
(spoilers!).
) torture - notice how batman beats the joker within an inch of his life before he reveals to him the "ticking time bomb scenerio" of harvery dent's and rachel dawes' location..

Tim Curry.... Greatest Actor?
by Preston ini've seen thousands of movies and occasionally get into discussions with other movies fans regarding the best performance / film score / film in a certain year / etc..... i've had disagreements with people as to the acting quality of marlon brando, james stewart, jimmy cagney, bette davis but.... the one actor that i've never experienced any disagreements on is (inexplicably) tim curry, who i've been a big fan of since 'clue' and i'm almost convinced that there is not a single purveyor of film that doesn't like his acting, but i'd like to do an experiment on here to see if anyone does.. does everyone really like tim curry?.
