Dana,
I'll give you a clue : you & I are the only "sheilas" to have responded to this thread!
as you all know, those of us who are in the confines of the penal colony of new south wales will be getting together for a bbq gettogether next sunday may 27th.
so if you live near sydney or within a reasonable travelling time and you like the idea of getting together for talking, sharing experiences, whatever, get the details of the time and location, and the security arrangements by e-mailing [email protected].
now, are you ready for today's lesson?

Re: IF IT RAINS
Should we have an alternate location, a central meeting spot if it is too wet?
Suggestion : a local Maccas, or another public meeting spot that is under more cover?

I'm a sheila, so I'll bring myself!
btw "Go and tart yourself up. - does that mean you want me to wear a red mini??
i have always had trouble breathing.
in track i was great for a quick burst of speed in the 50 yard dash, but couldn't move enough air in and out to keep myself going for the longer runs like the 330. i had sleep apnea really bad, with the classic symptoms where i stopped breathing for a while and then suddenly snorted myself awake gasping for breath.
for most of my life, surgery wasn't an option due to my jw lifestyle and employment choices (cleaning business = no insurance).
(((hug)))
I was with you in the ER there as you described the story, albeit a bit too graphic while I was eating my lunch, LOL!
glad you are still with us COMF

in australia there are separate congregations for aboriginal witnesses.
the official line is that the nonwitness aboriginals are more responsive to other aboriginals.
that may be so, but that doesn't mean that they should be kept separate for meetings.
a relevant question would be "if an aboriginal did not wish to be in a separated congregation, could they freely join a white congregation." I suspect not.
The answer is yes
As the others have said, the Aboriginal congrgations were created to cater to the need of a society of people.
White elders & MS give talks in the Aboriginal congregations, just as the Aboriginal bros can give talks in the white congrgations.
Why are there congregations for those who speak foreign languages? Is that racism too??
If you guys aren't so racist, then why didn't you attend the congregations for the foreign speaking/aboriginal groups?????

There is racism in the congregations, but the fact that there are Aboriginal congregations is more to cater to the needs of the Aboriginal people than anything else.
I was in a country congregation for my first 20 years, and it was noticed that the Aboriginal bible studies and return visits responded more readily to the Aboriginal bros & sisters, compared to when a white person called on them. The Aboriginals tended to view Christianity as a "white fella's religion" hence the need for them to have "their own people" to witness to them. In the country there are many groups or congregations created for those who are Aboriginals.
So it wasn't segregation or racism, more of a need to respond to the Aborigine's wants/needs to relate to their own kind. I see it more as a community that were being catered to, just as there are congregations for the deaf, or for those who speak foreign languages.
wotdoyareckon?.
will it rain on the bbq?.
or will there be glorious sunshine in a park-like situation ?.
Maybe anyone who's got a tarpaulin might like to bring one along, and we can use it for cover if it rains.
deceptive jw elders case#3 .
for there is nothing hid, save that it should be manifested; neither was (anything) made secret, but that it should come to light.
mark 4:22 .
Just bringing this to the top.
This deserves to be read!
