Actually, my experience has been that the Witnesses are more than usually capable of quoting the scriptures.
However, their understanding and application of it can be another matter altogether !

Sorry what i meant is they can only give a few quotes and are in real trouble to back real doctrine without a publication, like 1914, the generation etc.

Somewhere someone is pointing out their mistakes and anyone can find them. In the past this info was isolated most of the time, now its available anywhere anytime. How can they win ?
i recently read in discover magazine that scientists have found a way to turn on and off memory cells in our brain.
they say that this is good news for people with post traumatic stress disorder, which i was diagnosed with a few years ago.
this, to me, brings up the ethical question of what did the traumatic events in my life, and the lives of others, add to society as a whole?

Next time you reply use the Bible within inline quotes instead of just making stuff up. So often you just express your opinion as fact and completely ignore your own supposed source of knowledge. We had this same problem whenwe were discussing the snake in Genesis etc. When you do present a scripture, you cheat and completely change the meaning of words like our discussion in Revelation.

Crestus is not the same as Christus. The former means useful while the latter means annointed. They are quite separate different words.

i just happen to stumble across the june study watchtower at my aunt's home and glanced throught the mag and saw this teaching.
i don't remember the jw's teaching this back when i was in.
How can the UN be a king, it has no land, army or power. Its basically a building of beaucrats and thats it.
as i recall in the 1980s talks and watchtower literature, magazines and books were always talking about the "generation" teaching and how it proved armageddon was going to come any day now.. but am i correct in thinking they have only actually mentioned the new "overlapping generations" teaching once or twice in the literature?
why are they so shy about talking about their great new interpretation?

a lot of key concepts in the ot areirect copies with minor edits of older myth stories. we can find noah, samson, solomon, david, psalms, ten commandments and more in just egypt and the near east. you obviously know nothing of ancient society and just assume the bible is unique. if you just attempted to read other books you will see just how plagarized, political and heavily edited the bible we have today is. just look at the bible itself, christians and catholics cant agree on what books are canon. then we have the muslims with variations on abraham and his two sons where they say ishmael is the chosen one. they also believe jesus didnot die. the mormons will tell the lost tribes ended up in america. some indian towns say jesus lived in kashmir. are all these people frauds or just have a hearty imaginatiom?t

3:16, "all scripture is inspired by god".....since the only scripture at the time this was written was the old testament (hebrew scriptures, if you prefer), would it make sense to reason that this scripture cannot be used by itself to support new testament writings?....that the scriptures referred to in this verse were the old testament?.
as an apostle paul had authority, but to me it seems that some of the things paul wrote were related as "commands" to the congregations, whereas other things were only his suggestions or his perspective and that it was up to the individuals to decide for themselves.. your thoughts on this?.

considering today there are literally dozens of bibles'with different books aswell'as some with additional chapters and verses, the question becomes what scriptures? the catholic bible is different from the ethiopian,'which is different from the christian and i didnt even mention the multitude of variety from xian churches like the nwt.
if i photocopy the kjv and add a few scriptures do they become holy ?
