Now that they're beating the "overlapping generation" drum I beleive 1914 is still as strong as ever. I really wonder how many JWs woke up from the whole "overlapping" theory? If the R&F can swallow that, they'll accept anything the GB throw at them.

Afterlife - why would Satan promote it?

(even though the bible is littered with afterlife talk e.g.
luke 16:19-31, matthew 10:28, matthew 25:46, revelation 21:8,revelation 6:9-11, luke 23:43, john 3:16 ).

people or visit sights that expose their beliefs?.

It is OFFICIAL they want MORE MONEY : NEW ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
by raymond frantz ini just came back from the meeting .although the local announcements have been abolished recently as an item for the second part , an elder came on the platform to announce that the society needs more money and there is a letter on the noticeboard for all the congragation to read to this effect.
although the announcement was read half heartedly (this elder's daughter is an apostate ,it looks like he knows what's going on) the implictions are dramatic .
the society in brief,requests any brother or sister with funds sitting on personal accounts to loan them to the society ,he didn't go into any specifics but i will take a picture of the letter next time and make it available here .. i'm not amazed that they're asking for money ,i thought it will happen sooner or later .what i'm amazed is that 99% of the congragation are oblivious to the financial crisis that the society finds itself these days and the reasons why .i can see the future now .the watchtower will be the fist part of the babylon the great to go down in a blaze of scandals and financial troubles !.

Can't they just mortgage a few KH's. Now they effectively own them, it shouldn't be an issue.
They've always asked for money, yet make it quite clear "We don't require donations".
Typical Watchtower Speak
We need more donations -> We don't require donations
We love everyone -> They're all going to be killed unless theyr'e one of us
We love congregation members -> If they do something wrong we will not allow anyone to speak to them (including family)
The 144,000 are the anointed slave class, giving food to the sheep -> There's only 12 anointed, and a writing dep producing literature
We only follow the bible -> Watchtower literature is not only required, but given precedence

Another subject matter where JWs have you double-dammed. If you prove growth has stalled or declined they turn it around and say: It's because we're so close to the end. Satan's persecution. ... etc. If there is any growth they say it's because we're so close to the end ...

Timeline for the seventy years?
by DarkFireWolf ini tried to make a little timeline for when the seventy years began and ended that correlates with history..i might take this to the elders to show them that 609-539 is completely possible for the 70 years while 607 dosen't go with history.i've been told by others in the congregation that we choose 607 because 537-70=607 and that jerusalem being destroyed in 586/7 would only mean 50 years of exile.this is going to be a little bit long too as i've added in the scriptures that fit in this timeline.. 609. nabopolassars 17th year.
babylonians defeat the assyrians.
and the 70 years begin with them ruling over the nations.. jeremiah 25:17-26.

I had an elder come over to 'study' with my wife. I asked him to prove 607. I even printed out the "Calculating 587 B.C. from the Watchtower" table from jwfacts.com (http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/607-587.php) and gave it to the elder so he could check the references.
I'm expecting him over tonight to explain exactly how the Watchtower calculated 607 B.C.E as the fall of Jerusalem?

I grew up not fearing old age
by Sour Grapes inas a teenage jw, i grew up believing that i was not going to finish high school nor would i get old and have to die like my grandparents did.
well, i did finish high school, as did my children and my grandchildren and old age has not been kind to me.
i don't like to look at pictures from 40 years ago, from a time when i was healthy and i had the goal of "stay alive till 75.
