When I was in, it was 'Do more! Do more!" Now it's "Give more! Give more!" But how can ordinary JWs give more? The local congregation is aging. A lot of elderly, many approaching or in middle age, a few families with kids, a few young adults. The elderly are on fixed incomes and CANNOT give more or they won't have anything to live. The families can't give a lot or their kids won't eat. The local economy is not good and those lucky enough to still have jobs live in fear of losing them any day now. Working JWs are hampered by lack of education and skills, stuck in mostly low-paying or even part-time jobs. (With a few exceptions.) Even those who are financially better off can't give a lot because they have uncertain futures to prepare for as best they can. I doubt the situation is unusual.

Rank & file are seeing the money-grubbing
by Zoos inspoke with a fellow apostate from my own area.
she and i bailed out about the same time and kept in touch.. she used to do secular work with one of the local elders in his cleaning business until she got dfed.
this same elder was one of the more profound dickheads on my reinstatement committee, before i turned around two years later and daed.. business required her to contact the elder on behalf of an old client.

GB earth-shattering announcement: "All Jehovah's Witnesses are hereby advised to begin selling their material possessions and donate the proceeds to the Society. They will then be issued one-way tickets to the jungles of Guyana where they will have the privilege of building a Paradise Earth. Kool-Aid will be provided. Truly we live in wondrous times!" Thunderous applause.

I wouldn't worry about Jesus as God the Son vs. Jesus as Son of God or who goes to heaven. Do you believe Jesus is your savior and redeemer? If so, that's what matters. As for going to heaven, we can't ever know that for certain until we die and go there. Or not. As for deciding what to believe, that's for you to choose. You've found a place you seem to be comfortable with. Enjoy it. There's no need to rush. -

All Day K.H. Maintenance Meeting !!!!
by Poztate inthe whole congregation was required to sign up for this all day program.what are they going to talk about for the full day.
maybe a one hour talk by an elder about "responsible toilet cleaning in this time of the end" with demos as how it can be accomplished.
only sisters seem to need to listen to that one.. maybe cutting grass to the proper height so we don't bring reproach on jehovah's name.

I can see it now. 'Does Your Choice of Toilet Bowl Cleaner Bring Honor to Jehovah?'
'The Feather Duster- Innocent Cleaning Tool or Pagan Pitfall?'
'Dust Mites- A Wondrous Creation of Jehovah!'
'Black Mold- A Satanic Delusion'
Seriously though, I heard of one congregation that had to leave its KH because of black mold.

Don't have sexual fantasies! Today's watchtower...
by purrpurr inthe watchtower today says not to think of sex, or to have sexual fantasies.
i'm just wondering... how many people in the hall hearing this watchtower today would be having sexual fantasies?
sitting there thinking about sister hottie or brother hunky ?.

Again with the guilt-tripping. Sexual fantasies= bad, filthy behavior that you should confess to the elders in detail so they can masturbate, er, counsel you. Reading graphic, almost pornographic passages from the Bible that describe incest, rape, and adultery= perfectly fine because 'all scripture is inspired'.

by LevelThePlayingField inhttp://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/disgraced-jehovah-s-witness-elder-jailed-for-sexually-abusing-a-girl/story-29528336-detail/story.html.
a disgraced jehovah's witness elder has been jailed for eight years for sexually abusing a girl.. martyn barron (55) pleaded guilty to four counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13, more than 10 years ago.. the victim, now an adult, said the abuse had devastated her life.. leicester crown court was told barron, of walton street, belgrave, leicester, sought to blame the child for his wrongdoing in a pre-sentence report.. .

Seems like they're coming down harder on us inactive folks than they did before. But I'm guessing that if those JW parents who kicked their inactive/DF/DA kids to the curb needed help, the GB would tell them: "Don't come to US for help! Go ask your kids who you haven't seen in 20 years because we told you to cut them out of your lives."

" you will never grow old..."

And yet the society has the hide to say that they never set dates, or made predictions about when the end would come!
They say that it was "over zealous ones" who jumped to wrong conclusions based on eagerness or something like that!
The society needs to own up and admit that they TAUGHT specifics about various end dates. And such teachings affected millions of lives
That's nothing but bs. We all know the faithful dubs would never DARE think anything for themselves. Using your brain is an unforgivable sin in borgland. Just a way for the GB to deflect attention from their own idiocy.

Many Ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses Have Received Texts from Loved Ones Ending Their Relationships Forever
by ttdtt inthis was a very painful article to read, and i can only imagine that after this years convention - people will be even more emboldened to cut off friends and family.. http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2016/07/03/many-ex-jehovahs-witnesses-have-received-texts-from-loved-ones-ending-their-relationships-forever/?utm_source=silverpopmailing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=atheist%20071316%20(1)&utm_content=&spmailingid=51830798&spuserid=mty4mdi2oty3odkws0&spjobid=961945281&spreportid=otyxotq1mjgxs0.

When you think about it, sending a text like that is really the coward's way. You can be as hateful as your nasty little heart desires and you don't have to look the other person in the eyes while you're sticking the knife in. At least be brave enough to look the person you're shunning in the face.

What would you like to have known about JWs before deciding whether to get baptised?
by slimboyfat inif you could go back in time and tell yourself one thing about jws would you do it?
and what would you choose to say to yourself?
do you think you could have convinced yourself not to get baptised if you chose the right thing to say?
-

I'd tell my 14-year-old self:
"Don't get baptized because in four years you'll have learned a lot more and realize this isn't 'the truth'. You'll be desperately unhappy and looking for a way out."
