  Who is the wild beast in Revelation??

  i have been trying to figure this out, as i do believe that revelation is written for our day.

  and too, that it is inspired from god.

  here some thoughts about the beast that i wrote down.. .

  The Wild beast represents a specific succession of Major empires.

  At the time it was written it could be said five had already fallen (Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia and Greece)

  One was existing when Revelation was written = Rome

  One more was to come.

  One of these 7 heads appears to be destroyed/slaughtered. But then it reappears and is counted as an eighth but is one of the seven - most likely the seventh after it revives from its sword stroke.

  I believe the Seventh head that dies is the Soviet Union which was signed out of existence exactly 15 years ago December 8.

  It is clear that Russia is reasserting itself and making the USA feel very uncomfortable.

  The USA is Babylon the Great. It is the richest entity the world has ever seen. It is a hegemon sitting on top of the whole world. In particular it seeks to dominate Russia - the Beast.

  This parallels the final struggle of the King of the North and the King of the South in Daniel. The King of the South (USA) pushes the King of the North (Russia) Anyone who doesn't think this is going on right now are totally ignorant of geo-politics. NATO (with USA backing) has pushed into former Warsaw Pact nations and is now courting Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova - former members of the USSR. Russia has been successfully maneuvering to get the USA out of its former Repbulics.

  In Daniel the King of the North destroys the King of the South. And in Revelation the Wild Beast (Revived Soviet Union) gets the harlot of its back and eventually destroys the USA (harlot).

  There is more to this. I realize that this interpretation is in conflict with most. Many are hung up on assigning a religious identity to Babylon the Great. The Watchtower thinks the beast that was but is not and then IS - is different from the Revelation beast that receives a death-blow and revives.

  The ten horns on the seventh head of the beast is a confederation of former soviet states that recently received power but fall back into some kind of security group to settle some issues with Babylon the Great (USA). The Watchtower says that the ten horns represent ALL the nations of the earth in the UN. Impossible. The Bible criteria for these ten horns is that they NEVER really had a kingdom of their own before.

  as i mentioned before in another thread, my dub aunt, along with several other witnesses, told me that they were specifically told that the governing body let it be known that tract work would trigger the beginning of the end by infuriating the other religions and somehow causing the governments to "turn on babylon the great".

  this was supposed to start before the end of this year.

  one thing i mentioned is that they were smart enough this time, not to put anything down in writing, but simply let it get around by "word of mouth".

  On the basis of this reasoning you can still claim the end is "near" even after a couple of thousand years.

  JW's are still essentially neutral. They have every right to plead and defend their case to authorities. They don't take up arms to defend any country and they avoid political divisiveness by not voting in elections.

  This IS a sensitive area though and sometimes they have shown bad judgement ie UN NGO membership and Ruthefords Jew baiting with Hitler.

  If I were Rutheford I will tell them to be a little more forgiving of those who Drink too much.

  If I were F. Franz I would tell them something that starts with "it seems fitting..." but even if it isn't - what the hell -- wear it anyhow

  If I were Knorr I would tell them they should bring all their printing back to NYC so they don't lose their corporate image.

  If I were Schroeder I would tell them the only kind of higher education that should be allowed is to be an attorney.

  If I were Sydlik I would tell them to send younger women to heaven.

  in the january 1 2007 wt, there is the following quote in one of the articles regarding the "first resurrection" (there are a few other posts on that article already):.

  it seems that resurrected ones of the 24 elders group may be involved in communicating of divine truths today.. this may be the most significant sentence in the article (haven't read it in its entirety yet).

  i don't recall seeing anything like it in print before.. seems to be laying the groundwork for a "flash of new light", to be exposed probably whenever the last of the 3 old-timers hanging on (barr, barber, jaracz) drop off:.

  I have no problem with people choosing to avoid contact with "criminal" or "predatory" members of their families. I have some "fanatic" witness family members that I avoid eating with. It should be a persons own choice. I can also see why the elders might agree as a body to have nothing to do with a person they have judged as unrepentant. But their actions should only be advisory - not a commandment that would involve punishment.
