I have accomplished my purpose if I get a few here to see that there IS another viewpoint that is legitimate. They can decide for themselves which view deserves their belief.

Your enemy is not the Watchtower. Your enemy is the organized religious mainstream idiots who would like to veto important research.
I have a feeling this is an area where third world technology may be able to get a foot-hold. The bright asian researchers may set up companies in countries that will remove prohibitions on controversial research.

I have no problem with people who point out the fallacies of religions. To me the foundation of all god-based religion is false. That's my oppinion and it is shared by about 10% of the American Population.
There is no need for the concept of "cult". Its purpose is to scare people into hiring exit managers. In fact the motive behind a lot of the cult scare is the idea that "cults" are "satanic". In fact you will often hear people combine those terms "satanic cult".
The cult scare doesn't sharpen peoples critical thinking abilities. It is a big hopper to throw "garbage". Once again people rely on others to do the thinking for them. The checklists give you the illusion that you are thinking. I've been in sales. And I've done scientific research. I know the difference between the two.

The same with the matter of "cults". Hassan, Singer and other so-called experts are in the "business" of getting people out of "cults". The checklists they provide are quite similar to the checklist handed out by AA. They are written to net the largest number of candidates.

Talk about cult. What was the cause of Ananias & Sapphiras death? I think those early Christians either invented this story or it was a double homicide.
Acts 5:11 "Consequently great fear came over the whole congregation over all those hearing about these things" HOW CONVENIENT.

Do you mean to tell me that there is general agreement among socioligists as to what a cult is or isn't?
I can set up a system of criteria where everyone is "crazy" to some degree or another.
We are not just talking about defining a word or general usage of a word. "Cult" is used AS IF it represents some objective scientifically verifiable "thing". A few minutes search on the internet and you will find that there are a lot of sociologists that don't agree with calling any religion a cult because its intended purpose is to demean a new or unconventional belief system.
What do you call that upstart bunch of fruitcakes that sold their belongings and clustered in communities to lauch their new found religion based on some supposed resurrection of their leader Jesus?
