Perry:
I have a "believing" system rather than a "belief" system. By that I mean - I rely on an ever improving set of methods for determining the "probability" - not certainty - of something being true. The "methods" are whats important to me.
So please don't feel pity for me. Your maginifcently wonderful and most deep humility just overwhelms me. Quit taking this stuff so seriously. At best its only a matter of life and death.

Amazing:
I am still confused by your connecting the American Philosophical Association with the sceintologist etc.
Are you saying that the scientologists were reporting something innaccurate?
Please clarify this.

If a nuke hits Washington, will your life change?
by Mindchild inas you may or may not know, the bush administration has set up a shadow government in the usa, with its memebers already securely located in underground bunkers and now we are learning that washington dc is being surrounded radiation and gamma ray detectors which would tip off the delta forces on standby that a nuclear weapon had been brought into the area.
the government concedes that they do expect a possible nuclear strike by terrorists.. while it may not come from ben ladin, there are other countries who appear to have made more progress in securing nuclear weapons by either buying them illegally or making their own.
the really bad news is that they also have much more of an incentive now to use them against the usa as our government has launched a war against their countries (i.e.

You Know:
You are obviously NOT Asian. Do you really think Jehovah will destroy billions of the poorest people on the earth. JW's have only preached thoroughly to the richest third of the earths population. Where is the justice in that? What does Jehovah have against the poor and asians? Or are you one of those JW's who would ruthlessly invoke community responsibility.
One of the problems with JW scenarios is that they are Anglo-American -centric. There are more people in China now then there were in the whole earth when Russell started the Watchtower.

Debate lesson:
Referring to the APA as the American Poodle Association is NOT a straw man argument nor was it intended. I was using one of the most imaginative and effective strategies in attacking false reasoning. It is called the "absurd example method". This is a way of demonstrating faulty patterns of reasoning without appealing to technical jargon or rules.

X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2]Margaret Singer has been comprehensively discredited.
Her credentials, however, have been rejected by her own profession: The American Psychological Association found her work to lack scientific merit. Several courts have forbidden Singer to testify as an "expert witness" because, as one court stated, "her coercive persuasion theory did not represent a meaningful scientific concept." United States vs Steven FishmanThe APA formally dismissed Singer's ideas in the 1980s after she and her AFF associates had formed a task force within the APA on "deceptive and indirect methods of persuasion and control". This task force submitted its report to the Board of Social and Ethical Responsibility for Psychology of the APA.
The task force's report was rejected by the Board in May of 1987. The APA stated that "In general, the report lacks the scientific rigor and evenhanded critical approach needed for APA imprimatur." The APA Board, which consulted two independent experts in arriving at their conclusion, warned the task force members not to imply that the APA in any way supported the positions they had put forward.
Singer is an advisory board member of Cult Awareness Network (CAN) and American Family Foundation (AFF), both of which rely on her theories to cover their attacks on new religions with a veneer of "science." But the overwhelming majority of experts and scholars have also found Singer's "brainwashing" ideas to be wholly unscientific. They share the view of Professor Harvey Cox, Professor of Divinity at Harvard University, that "The term 'brainwashing' has no respectable standing in scientific or psychiatric circles, and is used almost entirely to describe a process by which somebody has arrived at convictions that I do not agree with." (John T. Biermans: The Odyssey of New Religions Today).
In 1990, U.S. District Court Judge D. Lowell Jensen in US v. Fishman reviewed in detail the status of Singer's ideas, including voluminous submissions on her behalf. Judge Jensen then barred her from testifying, concluding that her views were not generally accepted within the scientific community both as to merit and to methodology: "The evidence before the court...shows that neither the APA [American Psychological Association] nor the ASA [American Sociological Association] has endorsed the views of Dr. Singer and Dr. Ofshe [a sociologist and AFF director] on thought reform. The APA found that Dr. Singer's report lacked scientific merit and that studies supporting its findings lack methodological rigor."
SO what are talking about American Philosophical Association?

I believe that it is more likely that a nuclear device will explode in NYC. It would do more far reaching damage there. If a nuclear device went off in Washington it would do mostly symbolic damage.
The nuclear device that is probably already in place in NYC will be Putin's project. He's good at setting off bombs to make things work his way. (Keep your eyes open for a documentary on the Moscow Bombings of 1999 being put together by Berezovsky)
It will be blamed on terrorists even if it is proven that it is a Russian nuke. The Russian's will just claim that its been soooo hard to keep track of their nukes and one happened to fall into terrorist hands. Imagine the opportunity Russia has of inflicting massive damage on their biggest competitor for world power and not even having to take the blame.
How will my life be different? I will wait until the World-Wide Brotherhood of JW's finally figure out that Babylon the Great is not false religion but that it is the USA. I will be part of the mass exodous of JW's who will go to live with their brothers south of the border. From a safe distance I will watch the final and complete destruction of the USA.
Jehovah's Witnesses have built an organization that is ideally suited to survive such a world cataclysm. The Mormons have a pretty strong organization too but unfortunately they will sit on their sacred ground in Utah and go up in flames with the rest of the country.
There IS a reward for those who shed nationalism.
