  i don't find it the least bit appealing to even think of living forever under the jehovah's rule because he is such an egocentric god.

  I would have to see what its REALLY like. The Bible speaks about our not even being able to imagine what it would be like (eye has not seen and ear has not heard).

  (or whatever you beleive in of course) every one put down there main reasons, along with reasonable facts and backup as to why.. .

  coming out of jws, one of the most thorough studies i have done is on the topic of human organization.

  i have been very careful with this study for two reasons: (1) if human organization is important, then "where else do we go?

  " is an important question whether or not that is the question peter asked jesus; and (2) if human organization is not important, it allows us to see christianity, fellowship, and our personal relationship with christ in a whole new way.. i set out to determine whether human organization was necessary (and therefore, important), not to prove that it is unnecessary.

  after watching his impromptu press conference yesterday on abc i am convinced that clown wants a war with either n. korea or iran.

  what do you folks think?

  The N. Koreans have the bomb for one reason: prevent regime change.

  Any military attack on N. Korea would be interpreted by them as an effort to change their regime.

  They would level Seoul with artillery shells. South Korea doesn't want military confrontation. Especially, they wouldn't want to win such a confrontation and have to integrate N. Korea into their economy.

  China and Russia like situations that make the US look weak. So they really don't care.

  Actually there is nothing to worry about with the N. Koreans unless they export their technology. You can only try to slow down the growth of the nuclear club - you can't stop it.

  The answered prayer

  john 14:12 "most assuredly, i say to you, he who believes in me,the works that i do he will do also;and greater works than these he will do, because i go to my father.13"and whatever you ask in my name, that i will do, that the father may be glorified in the son 14:if you ask anything in my name, i will do it" .

  i understand that we ask for our prayers to be answered through jesus name as jesus is the amen.many will give a different answer to this question from the trinitarian/non trinitarian viewpoint.jesus says here that he will answer your prayers if you ask in his name.

  does this mean it is ok to request from jesus during the prayer.

  I will ask this question again.

  I don't have time to read through this thread. A lot of it is the same ol stuff.

  Can anyone help out by listing what they consider "new" in this argument.

  Its an important area and I feel like I might be missing something. But I also get the feeling that no one in these discussions really is saying anything that couldn't be found on numerous FAQS posted on web sites that are devoted to the subject.

  I wasn't trying to take your thread off subject. I was trying to enlarge the context in which it is discussed in order to put things in a realistic perspective.

  After all we aren't playing dungeons and dragons. If you assume that somewhere in the real world there is this Holy Spirit guiding and directing things you ought to be able to specify some criteria for identifying the activity of Holy Spirit. Again it shouldn't be ambiguous. Still Jesus made it clear that some would expel demons and prophesy and do other powerful works that would ordinarily be attributed to Holy Spirit - yet they would be workers of lawlessness.

  This is not an easily digestible chunk for those who are looking for rationality and order.

  At best the argument over how much "organization" is necessary is one of preference. It is easy to be caught in the IS-OUGHT fallacy. We usuaully frame this in the form of assuming that because something IS NOW the practice, it ought to be the practice. But there is the converse also - assuming that because something is NOT the practice, it OUGHT NOT to be the practice.

  At various stages of development an organization may be structured differently. Upstart organizations are not as organized as a more mature organization. There is a process of defining structure and boundaries. At some point there is CON-SOLID-ATION. The structure becomes hardened or solidified. Creeds (purpose statements) are put together. Marching orders. Hierarchy. This cycle keeps repeating.

  What confuses me is that the best answers come from secular experience and explains ALL types of organizations. Holy Sprit can't explain anything because you can't even explain exactly what Holy Spirit really is and what differentiates it from so-called natural processes.

  The question of What is the True Organization is another topic. Or is that REALLY the topic you are discussing?

  I can't believe this subject has reached 6 pages.

  Although I am intensely interested in this subject I don't have the patience to read through all of it.

  Since this subject has been discussed at length in this forum and in forums specifically devoted to the evolution/creation subject - could someone please tell me what has been stated here that would be considered a truly unique presentation on this subject? If no one can do that then I will remain with my current thinking.

  1. There is NO extraordinary and unambiguous evidence that some sort of supreme being created man.

  2. The Genesis account is myth.

  3. Evolution is excellent science.
