sigh... I think we're better off not believing in anything... If that October WT is any indication, I'm afraid more loads of BS is coming down the stream and the Dubs are going to swallow them as if they're nectar and manna...

Raising kids - JW mother, agnostic father
by Zana inmy wife and i have two wonderful children aged 1 and 3. i was raised as a lutheran but stopped believing in my late teen years.
my wife is what i would call a liberal jw (yes, i believe such people exist .
sooner or later our children will have questions about religion and the differences mom and dad show towards it.

@losingit.. I'm in the Philippines. No divorce except for annulment. If annulment goes through, I'll still provide financial support for the kids, but then wife might have to start to go to work. (Right now, she's a housewife). Yes, she does know of my plans to annul the marriage. BTW, what do you mean by "a fighting chance to start fresh after separation?"

I guess for now, wife is a "liberal" JW. Eldest kid watches cartoon network, plays "violent" games on ipad. Will be watching Spiderman 2 together tomorrow. Basically just let wife do whatever she wants for WTBT. Already told her NOT to have the kid baptized or join her on their house calls. Sigh... right now just waiting until I have enough funds to end the relationship and go our separate ways.

What happens to marriages upon the arrival of Armageddon?

1) if you are a married, baptized witness couple (both people being baptized) and armageddon arrives, will the couple still be married on paradise earthtm?
2) if you are married to an unbelieving mate (ubm) and armageddon arrives, will the witness be free to remarry on paradise earth?.

I don't think that the translation is incorrect, as problemaddict has pointed out. It's just that for a JW drone, the subtle phrasing is like one of those hidden triggers planted deep in their psyche. Like a sleeper agent..
Ask of is a gentler version of require. As some Bible translators have chosen to emphasis the lovingkindess of the God of Israel to his chosen people.
There is a related verse in which God talks of Himself like a mother hen wanting to gather her chicks under her wings...

How does TTATT affect your marriage??
by Crazyguy injust wondering of those of you that have left or are fading and have married ones still in, how is it going, is there hope or is the marriage doomed?
wondering what are the percentages.
i'm fading fast but wife is zealous as ever and we don't talk spiritual things at all anymore.

I haven't been a JW nor an exemplary husband (had a few flings along the way), but I did my my best to provide for my family and take care of them. Now my wife is already waist deep in the quicksand of the "Truth", and pretty much serious about working her way to salvation. I have shared pertinent info with her, pointing out the fallacies and illogical doctrines spewed out by the Borg, thinking that she might just understand because other college education. But no, extended immersion in the Kool aid apparently have diluted the critical thinking feature, in addition, her deceased mom and half-sister are both JWs too. The blood doctrine was the worst yet. Asked her twice about allowing blood transfusion for the kids in case they really need it, and the answer is negative. I'm currently working in a multinational company and there is a possibility that I'll be assigned to other countries for periods of time. I can't afford to worry about medical and mental health of the kids if I'm away at work. I'm thinking of annuling our marriage due to reason of psychological incapacity, and let her do whatever she wants in the Borg empire for her "salvation" regardless of the consequences.

Just caught my 7 yr old watching 'Calebs Aeroplane' think I overreacted
by not bitter inat least i think thats what its called.
she was watching it at my parents house just now.
i asked what she was watching on my mums tablet and mum said whilst laughing 'oh sorry but she wants to watch bible stories' then all i heard was something about jehovah and keeping rooms tidy.
