I understand your point. Their so-called bloodless surgeries/operations are predicated on the patients having the money and time to undergo the preparations for it. Trauma victims on the other hand only have the "golden hour" for the doctors to save their lives.

Blood fractions... need a sounding board..
by vanyell ini'm currently in a discussion with a jw regarding the illogical basis of accepting blood fractions for transfusions vs whole blood.
he compared blood fractioning to the splitting of water into hydrogen and oxygen.
in short, he contends that blood fractions is not blood since oxygen is not water when split.. my understanding is that the main reason why blood fractions are called that way is because they are components of blood.

Well... it's worth a try. It's kinda irritating when he claims that I cannot refute him (in another discussion) when he wouldn't even try to do some research like why Greg Stafford would leave their beloved ORG. So I told him that since he's so enthralled with the ORG's "truth", we just see each other during Armageddon.... Though I did want to say, "and see who'll say I told you so" (which I didn't). <sigh>

That's correct. Actually it's splitting of molecules if you don't mind. Apparently, most of the time, it's useless to debate or argue with JWs who thinks that their logical deductions are impeccable since they own the "truth". In any case: here's my reply to those thralls: " Let's see, tell me then how inteferon (blood fraction) is made from? Is it made from scratch? Or is it processed from whole blood which is "forbidden" to be place in storage by God? Remember blood is supposed to be poured out to the ground as indicated in Leviticus. Again, you're being inane. Show me a mathematician that says a fraction of a number is not a number." Feedback is greatly appreciated.

My understanding is that the main reason why blood fractions are called that way is because they are components of blood. When reconstituted together, they form whole blood. Whereas water split into hydrogen and oxygen doesn't necessarily combine into water.
Am I missing any loopholes in my logic?

An Old Argument.... does it hold water?
by AK - Jeff inestimates range from 4 million to 15 million children die from starvation each year on this planet.
that's between 500 and 1700 children a day, depending on what numbers you accept.
still, no matter which numbers you use, doesn't this make you arrive at one of the following conclusions?.

I'm gonna throw in my two cents into the ring.
1. Humans have "free will", if we are going to take the view that God is omnipotent (according to the Aquinas), that all things (good or evil) are guided by God, then there is no free will.
2. If human are to really have free will, then God cannot control our choices. I can't remember where this story was taken from, and it goes something like this: "I complained to God about why He let children starve to death, allows the homeless to freeze to death and a whole lot more unfairness and injustice. After a long silence, God answered in a quiet voice: "Yes I did something. I created you."

Latest Watchtower page 30... They have some nerve to put this!
by TimothyT inone thing that i have always noticed even when i was a jw is that the jw org has lots and lots and lots of rules for allsorts of stupid petty rules which make no difference.
when you read the bible you see how they are clearly in the wrong here and are acting like the pharisees themselves, who imposed so much pressure on others to conform to the law.
am i missing something here!?!?

eggnog's responses sort of reminds me of the responses I got when I posted on a JW page on Facebook. They quoted something, and I pointed it out that it was out of context. E.g. 2 Chron 15:13. In the end, I got tagged as an "apostate", to which I said "Thank you". Well, back to what Timmy wrote first, Jesus said: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." (Matt 11:28-30).

June 15 WT-The F&DS is part of the Woman's Seed!?! WTF!
by serenitynow! inso on page 8 of the new kool-aid edition the woman's seed of genesis 3:15 is mentioned.

This is a good analysis of Genesis 3:15.

Is Biblical Morality Situational, Based Upon the Arbitrary Whims of Yahweh?
by leavingwt inis biblical morality situational, based upon the arbitrary whims of yahweh?
murder is wrong... if god orders it however, then murder is right, and failing to murder is a sin.. .

Allow me to put in my two cents here. Biblical morality as we understand it right now in our modern age, have been heavily influenced by Augustine and Aquinas. I read a book called "God at War". It presented a different perspective on why there is good and evil in the world today. It makes sense to treat Biblical morality as a state of war between good and evil with mankind as the battleground. Take a look at the ancient mythologies, they all deal with warfare between good and evil, if we try looking at the Bible as a chronicle of war between God and Satan, then everything makes sense.
The Augustinian and Aquinian thought of God being omnipotent (all controlling) contradicts itself when things like the Holocaust, rapes, murders and other evil things happen. In fact, it totally erases "free will" from the equation.

The Catholic More Righteous Than Almost Any Witness
by metatron inlast night on "60 minutes",..... they featured the catholic archbishop of dublin.
he exposed his own church, his own "organization".
he exposed documents and testimony about how his church covered up child molesting priests throughout ireland.. he went to a school, to remind himself of what an 8 year old boy looked like - because he was aware of one nasty case involving a boy of that age.. when he was talking, he paused..... because he held back tears.. if you are still a "loyal" witness, i have two things to tell you.

In the matter of child rape, the cover up of the Catholic Church has certainly been blown. All that matters, is that they themselves are forced to admit that it is a problem. It is not, however, a matter of being more righteous than the Watchtower. The Watchtower on the other hand, consistently denies and prevaricate that chiild rape/abuse happens inside the Organization.

Iran vs Israel and the USA = WW III (Should we be worried?)
by Me Myself and I inthis particular bowl of soup has been bubbling for some time now, with various posturing and toing and froing.
looking at the media and the subsequent comments from israel regarding iran, it looks clear that something is going to happen soon, very soon..... with iran having the ears of both china and russia, israel having the us and of course we (uk) as the states poodle on the other side.
i wonder if this could be the beginning of the end?.
