i got a kick out of how many times jws were told that the reason something good happened to them was because they recieved "blessings" from jehovah god.
and if they were going through tribulations and tough times, it was quite probably due to their failing in some way.. did you believe jehovah wasw sometimes blessing you or cursing you?.
Always. When bad things would happen I would amount it to the fact idea that Jehovah turned his back on me because of something 'evil' that I had done, like watch a bad movie or listen to bad music. I never felt the same conviction as my friends did, so I interpreted that as being a lack of holy spirt. Turns out it was a lack of gullibility. Damnit I hate the organization! Just realized, right now, how furious I am.

Wow! Jah really answered her prayers! Unfortunately for every story like this, there are 50 stories where Jah decides not to intervene and people either have to quit their job to pioneer or attend the Friday sessions of the convention, or they have to forgo those things and keep their jobs. I wonder how Jah chooses who's prayers to answer and who's not to answer?
i, like most born ins grew up being taught that everyone who was not a jw was inherently wicked, that they were dishonest, unloving, selfish, bad parents who don't care about their children, and also sad empty people with no direction in life.. as i grew older i started to see that this wasn't always true with every one, that what i was taught wasn't equating with what i was seeing.. by high school i could see that my friends at school, (yes worldly friends eek!
) we're actually decent people with morals, they may have engaged in a little fornication here and there but not promiscuously, and they were good honest people, with goals and parents that cared for them.. but after high school i was phsycologicaly bullied into ceasing contact with my friends altogether, leaving me with little contact with outside world, and the cult mentality had more room to grow, not fully, but enough to unconsciously not fully trust 'worldly' people.. however, once i'd left the org and began to meet people again, i was amazed at actually how good, honest, loving, kind, and caring many people can be!
who love their spouses and children and try their very best to be good parents and partners.
I still have very hard time accepting it. And I am almost speachless out of surprise when someone shows they genuinely care for me. When they take time out of there day to listen and try their best to understand, it blows me away. I tend to wonder what it is they want from me, because of being taught that all worldly people are too selfish to care. Even though I know it's not true that all worldly people are evil, selfish and conniving, it's still hard to get past that brainwashing I've had since childhood.

i saw something weird yesterday on my way out the door.
a hispanic jw mom had two kids of about ages 10 and 12 with her carrying invites to the memorial or maybe to the special talk.
anyways she sent the girl up the stairs alone to place whatever and the boy to a downstairs apartment.
Me and my buddy went to the door together without supervision at about the ages of 11 and 12. It happend to be an apostate. Incidentally that's the first time I learned about what 1914 origanaly represented, and that the dates 1925 and 1975 where important dates in the organization history. I had never heard anything about the last two dates up untill then. Sometimes the riskes of sending innocent children to doors alone are outweighed by the benefits. Although I still wouldn't recommend it.

Not only will it make things worse for you, you'll probably be all angry and frustrated after they leave, but for them too, they will have confirmed in their mind that apostates are actually as bad as theyre led to believe. Just because you've been humiliated, threatend and guilted, doesn't mean you have the right to return the favor to a couple of innocent unsuspecting people. Please, please please, when they come to your house, be careful with what you do and say. You might be doing a disservice to them, us, and yourself.

i was fairly sure that he was very much on the edge of leaving to, or at least that he didn't believe it for a long time.
so i sent him an email in reply and told him basically everything i believed and the reasons i knew jws are not the true religion, and i also told him i was leaving.

Just ask your friend to remember the illustrations in the mags. There is nothing but more bloodshed promised in the future and the JW's are all counting on the coming slaughter. Nothing peaceful about making that one of your strongest beliefs.

I'd say when you combine a few main elements, like the WTS does, you have a guaranty of uniformity. And that uniformity can be used in whichever way you want. Step 1: impose a common enemy, ie: Satan/demons. Step 2: Come up with an idea for the best possible reward that nearly every person would look forward to, allow it to be slightly personalized for each person, ie: The promise of living in a paradise, forever, with your friends, if your old, don't worry, you won't be any longer, if your pour, never fear, money will be a thing of the past, if youre young, well get ready to explore the whole world. Step 3: establish yourself as the only source for truth and the only way to salvation, ie. God is running this organization. Step 4: tell them all the same information and heavily regulate any other information contrary to what you are teaching, ie: bombard them with magazines, brochures, books and public discourses so they don't have time to read other information, then tell them any information that sheds bad light on the organization is from Satan. Step 5: add a large does of guilt, ie: "god is watching your every move." If you use these main elements properly, you will have a group of people willing to do anything for the purpose, if you want them to be peaceful and not rebelious, demand it, and you should get it.
I think it is interesting though to debate what level of peace they have. Sure they don't go to war or engage in riots or things as obviously violent, but just because they don't do these things doesn't mean they are living the best way of life. In fact, a willingness to fight when you feel it is for a good cause, can be one of the most peaceful things you can do. It saves others from having to suffer or being downtrodden.

So then would you say that Buddhists are not as or have not been as peaceful as JWs? And the scientologists are more are more violent then the witnesses? Is there any group more peaceful? I don't know of anytime that JWs as a whole were violent.
