i think we all know that shariah law is basically mohammads copy of the torah, with minor edits.

slavery, womens inequality, anti homosexuality are obviously written in the same spirit.

so believers why dont you go live in saudi arabia if yo u believe gods law is perfect or at the last useful ?.

If your comments are of a serious nature and not sarcastic, (I am hoping you are sarcastic but have a feeling you are not), then let me help you to understand.

Us Atheists concern ourselves with the existence and morality of god because it is an issue that has shaped and continues to shape humanity for millennia. During that time millions

have been oppressed, taken advantage of, guilted, harmed, killed, etc. because of mans irrational desire to believe in a god or many gods, and to claim to have exclusive

knowledge and rights over others because of that belief. Because this is still an ongoing problem that continues to opress people, us Atheists care enough to spend our very precious

and limited time not to try and disprove gods existence, but rather to raise awareness, understanding, and to shed light on the the barbaric beliefs and practices that

are still prevalent in or modern societies. It is because there are those that can't speak out against religion and gods existence, for fear of expulsion or even death, that pushes us to do so.

And, your comment about Atheists only being accountable to themselves, that's a load of bullshit. I am held accountable to my friends, family, workmates, neighbors, municipal

and federal law, all living species and finally, to our planet earth. Every decision I make and action I take can effect any, or all, of the previous entities I listed.

Even if I wasn't held accountable to anyone or thing, I wouldn't go out murdering and steeling because I don't want to. And if the only thing that is holding you back from

murdering and steeling is your belief that god will punish or reward you according to your actions and beliefs, then I question your own morality and would be hesitant to trust

a person like yourself. I hope this clears up some of your prejudices.

EXPLAINING (through an experiment) why you believe PRAYER and rituals "work"!

i propose to test whether a ritual can produce a desired result.. (we pray so that we can get a result, right?).

try this experiment.. we are going to create a ritual and experimentally test the outcome.

take 100 pennies and shake them up really well in your hands.. now, you are going to take a sheet of paper and write either heads or tails on it.

This experiment is great for proving the fraudulence of prayer. Unfortunately most people who believe in prayer, will make up a million excuses as to why its not working. ie: "God works in mysterious ways", "God knows you are testing him so he won't comply", etc... If someone wants to believe that prayer works, fine by me, that just means the rest of us are free to look for REAL solutions to REAL problems. Not continually begging ones imaginary friend.

it all seems so playful and cutsie wootsie to an insider i suppose, i am seeing posts all over facebook about how this is just what my kid needs.. this is truly proper food at the proper time blah blah blah blomit blomit vomit vomit... the funniest part is however is that it cuts out at the end by saying "let's practice what you are going to say".. .

why not make the video longer and discuss how you can get an idea for a 6 year old on how to talk to a grown person about how they are going to die unless you study the bible with me..

for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.

i realise that the wts hasn't got the best of track record, and sure they have made mistakes.

but if i was to go to another church wouldn't they still have the same issues.

Sounds to me like youre sick and tired of organization. Try living without perscribing to any organizastion, as best you can. Organaizations that require obedience and dictate how their members should live, are bound to be corrupted at some point. Try thinking for yourself for a while, decide for yourself how you should live and what is moral and immoral. Your individuality should be celebrated.

Also this subject is something I really tried to get my mom to see as well. She has a real affinity for children, as mothers do, so I tried my best to get her to picture the scene. I would tell her 'mom just imagine what it would have been like for the children living their lives happily in their city when this unknown tribe (Israelites),came and slaughtered everyone, their friends, their parents, their brothers, right I front of their eyes, only to get kidnapped and raped.' I tried to get her to imagine the scene. I could tell it disturbed her but she was able to justify it in her mind by saying that they will be resurrected. I let her know about all the problems that brought about, but she wouldn't hear any of it. So you might expect a similar situation.

DON'T SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION!!! When I was talking/debating my parents as I was on my way out, I found their reactions to be, ehem, interesting. This is what i found.

I could say bad things about the bible, even though they wouldn't like it, but they could deal with me questioning its thouroughly.

I could question gods existence and even his intentions, without there being a huge ordeal,( they weren't very impressed but it wasn't the end of the world).

But as soon as I would say anything bad about the organization things would get ugly! "Don't ever insult OUR religion", they would say.

Just get her to question things, don't make accusations. Put yourself in her shoes, if you were still an uberdub, and it was your son, how would you react?

Be careful! Shit can hit the fan with no more than one sentence.

This is such a great idea! And frankly, it's about time we had some sort of an organization that can be the mouthpiece of ex jdubs. I have a few recommendations:

1. I feel that the name is slightly destructive to AAWA's causes, both present and future. It is good to keep the focus critical on the watchtower org and not the members, but the name could impose the idea that the AAWA is biased and hellbent on destroying the org. This, in my opinion, should not be the goal but rather the goal should be to expose the problems of the church. Also, it should provide a safe haven for JWs who need help leaving, learning, and/or understanding.

2. Tell me how you feel about this idea: It might be helpful for the AAWA to known of some trusted exjdubs in specific areas of the world who can help any current Jdubs, in their area, in need. Say for example the AAWA is contacted by an individual in New York who who has just been DFed and needs a place to stay and someone to talk to. The AAWA could check their New York database for a trusted exjdub volunteer and connect her with the individual in need of help. Just an idea, not sure of how it could all be executed but its worth looking into. It would have helped me in the past.

Either way, it looks great and we're all here to support it.

evidence points to the beaches of nuwayba in egypt by the gulf of aqaba (red sea) being the point of the red sea crossing.. .

it is thought king solomon put a pillar marking this on each side of the crossing.. (nuweiba egypt).

Those that go looking for something, always find it.

When "researchers" go looking for evidence for an ancient event that they already are certain to have happened, they are bound to come up with ample "evidence" for it. It can be kind of fun try to search for these things that fit a certain myth, but it still doesn't prove a goddamn thing other than that humans have great imaginations. It's like when you consciously look at the clouds or the stars for specific images, your bound to find them pretty quick, but it still isn't good for anything but an exercise for the imagination.
