What were your favorite assembly foods?
by NoRegrets inso i'm young enough to not remember having hot prepared meals at assemblies, but heard all about it from my parents and the like.
but what i do remember were all of the cold sandwiches and institutional snacks and soda.
remember the food tickets we started to use?

My dad was the kitchen overseer at all the circuit assemblies when I was little. I helped make the egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches. I remember the huge griddle where the eggs were cracked and cooked....real eggs!!! The donuts came in and I got first pick because we had to be there at 5am to get it all ready in time. I had 2 friends with me and we got to roam the dark assembly hall in those early hours playing hide and seek. We made Salisbury steak and baked chicken. The semi frozen chocolate pudding was the best!! The only bad thing about being the overseers daughter was that I got dish duty every time. Cleaning the huge pans and sanitizing them and drying them. I couldn't wait to be 16 to work in refreshments in the secondary cafeteria but they did away with all that right before I turned 16.
That assembly hall has since been torn down and a new one built sans kitchen of course.
(I did feel special having kitchen access lol)

Distrust and paranoia among faders
by cedars inhi guys.
i'm interested in knowing whether any other faders out there ever find themselves feeling a little paranoid about establishing contact with other faders or former jws, just in case the unthinkable happens and things turn sour.. personally, i'm now fairly comfortable with the idea that i will be disfellowshipped or disassociated within the next year or so.
i see it as inevitable, and an essential transition in order to do what i want to do with my life.

I think its always good to be careful when sharing any information with anyone. It is interesting that I dont care anymore what happens. I dont have the paranoia I thought I would. I have been establishing a jw-free life so what they do or dont do affects me very little. I am amazed how quickly learning the TTATT changed my whole perspective. What will be will be.

How the new light on the domestics may backfire on the Watchtower Society
by yadda yadda 2 inthe new light is a bit of give and take by the gb.
they have taken upon themselves the title of the faithful and discreet slave, in exchange for pushing the 'appointment over all of his [christ's] belongings' out into the future, and also in exchange for allowing the earthly class to be counted as 'domestics'.
the gb can now totally lord it as kings over the flock in exchange for having "dignified" them by including them as domestics.

The average jw has no problem with the fds=gb because according to some its always been that way and this clarification makes perfect sense and is food at the proper time. Jw's do not question. period. Their minds cannot pull out of the gravitational pull of the wbts. i dont see much coming of this "new light". maybe some minor dissention that will be swiftly dealt with. and a few more members on this site.

So Your Husband Is Thinking of Becoming A Jehovah's Witness
by LoisLane looking for Superman ini want to share with you, things your husband can demand from you, because, well he is the man and you are not.
i don't know if you have read about jw's sex lives and what is allowed and isn't.. no oral for anybody.
no masturbation for anybody.

Those rules are all good in jw theory. that is the ideal marriage. fortunately i am waaaay too headstrong to be in that type of relationship. even when i was in, most of those things were impossible and i would not put up with it. i was in an abusive relationship and the first time he attacked me and threw me against the wall and grabbed my neck, i called my parents from the locked bathroom. they told me NEVER call the police. my own parents!!! well that is one time i followed the rules and didnt call. the next time i did call the police. i am proud to be a strong woman. i plan on staying that way.
Many of the men i knew in the kh were not assertive though. sometimes giving in behind closed doors is easier to have a happy wife/life.
i know of one couple where those rules are probably posted on their fridge and the ceiling above their bed for reference at all times. they are intolerable. the husband is sure i am from the devil because i wont take his crap. fortunately i havent had to endure their company for over a year.
but in theory, male jw's would like those rules to be written in stone.

My ex JW sister is an APOLOGIST!!!!!
by joyfulfader ini have had a few conversations with my sister who left the org several years ago and has been dating a non jw for several years now.
she celebrates the holidays and everything.
so the other day i brought up some of the things i have learned since leaving.

she left because she wasnt allowed to divorce her ex husband without as scriptural reason and she didnt want to be alone forever. she has a bf and does all the things a worldly person does. she doesnt claim to have ever been a witness to anyone. funny thing is she has escaped any JC stuff by moving around so much. they know she is doing what she doing but no one wants to address it so she has successfully made the transition out physically. mentally is obviously a different story.

i think its safer to keep my mouth shut for a while. she is extremely opinionated with no filter. i will bide my time and be here if she needs me. now i have to figure out what to do if she discusses my opinions with my parents. right now i feel as though if they are going to shun me, so be it. i love them terribly but if they have a double standard then i will learn to deal with it.

thanks for the input everyone. i mistakenly assumed that she was where i am considering she hasnt been to a meeting in years and i just stopped 14 months ago. it took me no time at all to see TTATT. now that i examine things i can see her reasons for leaving were just about her not having a scriptural divorce and not a change of heart or eye opening experience. patience...

cofty- she doesnt even attend the memorial anymore. i dont understand what she's holding on to.
Phizzy- she doesn't claim to be fearful of armageddon. she claims to now have an open mind unlike when she was younger and not given a choice.
Robert- i dont dare call it a cult at this point
Gopher- i am the independent one in the family. i pointed out the constant change and wrong dates. when i mentioned how the flip flop of policy from a few mwn causes countless, needless deaths she just says that she remembers they are imperfect men doing their best...but then again, she has not been touched by a tragedy such as this.
Blondie- she is exactly what you said in your opening. i have no desire to engage her anymore after this. no talk of religion anymore. the hypocrisy in my own family was part of my reason for leaving. if she uses it against me so be it. as the strong, ndependent one in the family i am probably the only one who could take it.
It is very disappointing for me to hear the venom but the cult is crazy...

Plus she told me she didn't want to hear anything about where I got my information because if the org didn't write it, it is false. She told me I am a dangerous influence for thinking on my own. And she left years ago!!!!! So frustrating!!
