  I dont know if you are an ex-JW or a Christian interested in discussing JWs but I have to agree with the others that this point is well known here.

  My advice would be to save it until the next JW knocks at your door. Or even better, stop a couple in the street and invite them, to come and study with you!

  Let us know what happens. THAT will generate plenty of interest here!

  i noticed we have been dealing a lot with united nations issues.

  so i thought i would share something that doesnt seem to be found anywhere with respect to the united nations or its predecessor the league of nations and the watchtower.. since september 1919 at cedar point, j.f.

  rutherford (past president) and the watchtower have condemned the league of nations and now the united nations.

  Brilliant Hawkaw!

  I had often wondered about the validity of that quote, but never been able to find anything on it.

  Lets just say that I am not surprised.

  The Churches stance on political matters has long been misunderstood by the brothers in general, and totally misrepresented by the society.

  A book which I have found very enlightening is called "Issues faced by Christians Today" by John Stott. I have the 1981 edition but I think it was updated in the late '90s.

  The insight that is given into the Church psyche on political, social and enviromental issues puts WT thinking to shame. A Christian has a responsibility, no an OBLIGATION, to be concerned and an influence on the world.

  Opting out and waiting for the "New System" is not an option.

  Terry Pratchett's "Small Gods"

  i have been reading terry pratchett's "small gods" and finding myself either laughing outloud or reading protions outloud to anyone within earshot.

  what a great, funny, truthful indictment of religion and the messes it gets us all into.

  go out and buy a copy, you won't regret it.. i keep thinking i should post some passages on this board.

  I read "Small Gods" about 4 years ago while still a JW.

  Such a funny book, as are most of Pratchetts.

  I'm actually reading "Jingo" by him. I'm just about 70 pages in. Its a Carrott and Angua "Police Force" one.

  Abbaddon. I did the same thing when I saw "The Truth" on the supermarket shelf.

  Keaton the WORST Batman!? You have got to be kidding.

  He was the best by a mile.

  Only Keaton managed to capture the manic, on the edge, side of Batman.
  The whole point of Batman is that he is so scarred by the brutal deaths of his parents that he is just one step from crossing the line and joining the other side, "the bad guys".

  I thought Val Kilmer was the worst Batman, simply because he looked wrong. He's blonde! But the film he was in, Batman Forever was still great because Jim Carrey as the Riddler and Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face were brilliant.

  Those two and Jack Nicholson as the Joker are my favorite villians.

  Batman the Movie has that brilliant Prince soundtrack too.

  I was under the impression that this happened several months ago.

  As for doctinal change, well if you mean will there be no annointed left soon, those figures simply do not add up. The 144000 interpretation falls down on purely mathematical criteria.

  As for a move ahead. Most think it's just the current leaders trying to cover their backs against any legal reprisals. shifting responsibility to some poor fall guys
