DC, all but gave directions to the JWD site
by ocsrf in.
i found the dc very interesting this year do to my reading of this site.
i took note that the danger of the internet was menitioned no less than three times, once with a demonstration showing a brother who found a site by a innocent search of the web on a jw subject to the very last talk, concluding remarks and final "resolution" that consisted of 10 items with number 10 staying away from dangerous sites and chat rooms.. makes you wonder what the real story is behind that much attention being given to this problem iof theirs.. oc

KH presentations
by Pubsinger ini was reading bythesea's thread about notes he took at a meeting.
he said that the elder giving the public talk was quite entertaining with his props and illustrations.. now i thought that the society had tried to discourage speakers from using extesive props and pictures several years ago, but it did get me thinking.
i've not been in a kh for over 7 years.

It's amazing isn't it that when we were JWs we always thought we were at the cutting edge of technology with this sort of printing press and MEPS etc when actually their presentation and preaching methods are really antiquated.
You're right Blondie all that stuff costs money, but the members of our church happilly gave to the project because we knew it would be good for our church ministry, good for the local community who also use our church (local school etc), good for the kids and young people in church who would use it and grow up knowing that they were part of a modern church family, oh and it was fun! (now there's a thought)

Very funny thread!! But this birthday thing does take a bit of getting used to. I'm lucky because I've got into it through my kids who are 8 and 6, but I honestly had no idea hove to buy gifts for people. . .so sad.
Personally I'm easily pleased, books and CDs are a winner for me everytime. Tickets for a band/play are good too but I don't know how flush you are.
One day I will meet up with you all, I'm only just over the hill in Halifax, but the missus is just too damaged by this whole Witness shit that I think she'd be too traumatised by bad memories.

Have things moved on much since then? All we had was a blackboard and some chalk for the speaker to use. In the church I now attend we have multiscreen presentation capabilities which are used for a variety of things from song/hymn words, powerpoint presentations in the sermon, live video so everyone can see whats going on (it's a traditional Anglican building so there are pillars everywhere) etc.
Do KHs and assembly halls have this sort of stuff in these days?
Just wondering.

When did your armagedon nightmares end?
by jambon1 ini realise that many did not really believe what the wt taught about armageddon but many did.
believed it for 6 out of 10 years in the truth.
i really feel that apart from making me extreemly depressed and paranoid when i was conscious, this ridiculous & absurd teaching gave me literal nightmares.

Hi.
I think those were actually "Great Tribulation" nightmares.
You know I'm not sure I ever believed that it was going to happen especially in Europe.
Any fear I had disappeared when I realised that JWs had it all wrong anyway.

Looking to hear your Service horror stories.
by Stealth453 inmine.... i was about 10 years old, working with one of the pioneers in our hall, and we came across a gentleman that screamed obcenities at us and threatened to kill us unless we left his porch.
i wet my pants.
the pioneer i was with told me that i was a 'weak little witness that brought shame to jehovah for wetting my pants,' and that my punishment would be finishing out the morning's service with wet, piss stained pants.. it was february in toronto.
