i don't see greece being a push-over, so i'm going for england 4 - greece 2.. in fact, if you recall, when england played germany 4 weeks ago, i forecast a 4 - 2 result then.
ok i was slightly adrift, but the goal total was still 6, so i was not too far out.

I agree with Joelbear that 1914 will be gone by 2014. I think that they will even somehow do away with the "invisible return of Christ" thing.
Back in '95 when they changed the "generation" stuff I realised that something was up, not just because the reasoning used to support the change of thought was ridiculous and full of holes, but because it seemed to me that they were jumping the gun. I would have been quite happy to have gone along with the old "Generation of 1914" stuff up to around 2014, at which point it would have been necessary for the WT to have held it's hands up and said "we got it wrong" (HAHAHAHA. How naive was that! I didn't get C of C until 99!)
Now that we know what is going on, and how they knew from atleast 1977, when Carl Olaf Jonsson was sending them his stuff, that 1914 was wrong, it seems to me that 1995's "generation" change was the start of a 20 year project to remove 1914 from their teachings.

i know they're not allowed to fight in war, but are they allowed to be chefs for soldiers, for example.. when cornelius became christian, the bible doesn't say that he left his military career.. furthermore, matthew 5:41: "if someone in authority impresses you for a mile, go with him two miles.".

Yeah I know that DA by actions is an elder decision and thats what I meant. Its inconsistent application.
As for Cliff and the Lords Prayer. I think as JWs we are paranoid about being seen to make/receive money from Christian means. Now obviously there are some charletans in every walk of life, but I dont think Cliff needs the cash. However he did succeed in taking Christs words to no.1. Personally I think it was a master stroke in Christian witnessing , someone using their position to spread the gospel.

I used to be in bands and a duo before I went solo. (MUCH better money!)
I'm also in the worship group at my local church. Some of the Christian music is fantastic. Although not quite as good as "Kingdom Muddlies"

On a slightly different note(!) This DA'd by ones actions stuff has got to be one of the most inconsistent rulings going.
I actually agree, that by going to another church, my actions show that I no longer am JW or dont abide by their rules any longer.
But so does someone who drifts away maybe as a teenager and then who years later, although being baptised, lives with somebody. They DA themselves by there actions. But the congs. cant be bothered to chase them up and so lots of people still talk to them and do not shun them.
Thats obvious.
As they only work for some people, too many took them back and asked for a refund as theirs didn't work!

No the bible doesn't say he remained a soldier, but as he couldn't just hand in his notice, he would have had to desert or simply refuse to carry on his duties. This would have made him a martyr, possibly the first Christian martyr and that would surely have been recorded. So he likely remained in the army.
Today a JW can do alternative military service, but I dont think he can actually be in the army in any capacity.
However the Society hasn't got the balls to stand up and be counted on this. They wont DF anyone for joining the Services, as this would get them in deep water with the authorities and jeopardise their standing as a recognised religion and their charitable status. So rather than say God's law, as we see it,forbids this and so anyone who goes against this is deliberately breaking God's law and should be DF'd they say that the person has disassociated themselves by their actions. Which gets rid of the offender but keeps them out of bother with the Government.
So much for standing up for God's laws, as they see it.
