i am sure i am the only one who will be posting on this thread given america doesn't have the contest and no one else is likely to own up to watching such a shameful debacle!!!.

i am only slightly ashamed to say i have only ever missed one contest in 31 years and that was because i was in canada.

i love it - terry wogan is brilliantly funny - and so are most of the acts.. tonight the voting for the british entry begins on bbc1 - given the new enthusiasm for reality/talent shows its getting prime time treatement for the first time in years.

ok, so this guy was going out in service and came upon a old lady who had fallen and couldn't get up-and had been lying there for days.

finally, a jw does some actual good out in the field.

glad to know it isn't all a waste of time!

Obviously that's good news.

But seeing that they're the only ones preaching it's strange that the rest of Christendom can provide similar stories and more of them.

For every account of miraculous angelic help, well timed call/meeting, selfless act, ultimate sacrifice that the WT produces as evidence of God's support/blessing/direction the Church can duplicate 100 fold.

Anyone read The Heavenly Man? Story of a Chinese Christian's persecution at the hands of the Chinese authority, his unwavering faith and resolve, and his miraculous escape/deliverance - complete with "angelic blinding of his prison guards" allowing him to simply walk out of a prison.

It's real "Yearbook Stuff". Of course it'll have been the devil "appearing as an angel of light and blinding his mind"

yet lets rewind a little bit here in our copies of the nwt and go to isiah 43:10: .

The Trinity doctrine doesn't, never has done and never will teach that the Son and the Father are the same person.

I find that this is the crux of all JW refutations of the Trinity. However they are arguing at cross purposes.

well, as anyone on this board knows i"m a newbie....and witnesses kind of are scaring me with their "end is coming" business.

basically, cuz of three things:.

Can I just introduce a different perspective here.

I left but remained a believer (in Christ not WT!)

I don't confess to understand everything about "The End" or "Armageddon related interpretation" but it's just not my focus anymore. All this "must get it in order for the final day stuff"

I believe it's coming. But my focus is on the positive stuff of my faith. If I die before it comes I feel my hope is secure.

So I think the answer to the question is yes. When? Doesn't really matter.

Got much life to live to worry about it.

Typical WT.

What has the fact that they all preach the gospel got to do with a clergy-laity division.

The "Great Commision" of Matt 28 was given to everyone and so all Christians spread the gospel. The Church recognises that. WT recognises that.

But within both the Church and the WT certain ones have been given the authority/role of public preaching from the pulpit/platform.

As such they have clergy/elders meetings.

Whats the big deal big deal?

Any Rock-N-Roll Worship Music Fans out there?

i just got back from a concert near my town.

if there are any of you out there that enjoy a modern approach (youthful...lol) to worship....check this out!.

I'm a Christian and I like some of the Christian music. I definitely don't like it all just because it's "Christian." Some of it's great, some of it's terrible and some of it's just not my taste.

On a "worship" level, I'm sure that you can worship in or through any style of music.

On a musical level surely it's a matter of taste. Some rock you like, some you don't; some pop you do, some you don't.

I disagree that the premise behind rock and roll was sexual anymore than the premise behind classical music was sexual although without a doubt certain artists/composers were decadent.

As for certain genres which were once viewed as radical or rebellious becoming mainstream, that's just life.

So as to whether rock and roll worship is an oxymoron I'd have to disagree.

Christian bands/artists I'm currently listening to and like are Leeland, Bebo Norman, Chris Tomlin and The David Crowder Band amongst others

Except that not all the GB are anointed. So they won't be able to use the "these "other sheep" are just on the GB cos we're near the end and there aren't that many anointed left" line

So anyone on GB but not claiming to be anointed won't be able to justify their right or authority to be there.

Not without suddenly becoming "convieniently anointed"

There is clearly a strong doctrinal debate going on behind the scenes.

Since when did God communicate with his exclusive channel via debate You don't need to be anointed to debate!

Theological debate is great - the way it should be - but not if the conclusion reached becomes "God's Word"

Look for an astounding jump in the number of partakers, perhaps as early as this year. By Memorial 2008, I would not be surprised to see the number of "partakers" jump to 20,000, 30,000, 50,000, who knows?

Personally I can't see this but if it was to happen this would be brilliant!

They'd have a job explaining how they were different from mainstream Christianity. If this was to happen I think they'd have to reconsider and print something pretty heavy to "put down" a theological rebellion 100,000 a year being born again!!!

Will we see an exodus in the coming months comparable to those who saw the generation change.
