The first paragraph has the most cultish sentence I have seen them put into writing . "Each year, this observance is the most amazing unifying event that takes place on planet earth." Only those fully in can swallow this imaginary image that there is nothing else going on that evening anywhere on earth, geez its getting so deep.

Im surprised they haven't asked all to cancel their cable tv supscriptions and use the funds to support JW broadcasting. Tie in all computers to the mother borg, so they can run a tally on who is really watching the broadcast. Anyone caught watching "worldly" tv will be marked

Lack of young people in the congregation?
by IAmJustMe inbeen baptized for two years but being in the truth for longer.
one thing i have always noticed is the lack of young people in the congregation.
does anyone feel the same ?.

The Preaching Method Has Flip-Flopped Again
by pale.emperor inim currently reading a book called jehovah's witnesses: portrait of a contemporary religious movement (https://www.amazon.co.uk/jehovahs-witnesses-portrait-contemporary-religious/dp/0415266106).the researcher is a social scientist, was never a jw, who studied with the witnesses solely to write this book.
his research has been quite thorough and objective which is commendable.he mentioned in the book how rutherford didn't want his colporters (pioneers) giving their own sermons or bible interpretation, but instead he had them going door to door with his records.
(i have some converted to mp3, they're very boring).

Are JWs capable of a genuine discussion?
by stuckinarut2 ini was just pondering whether jws are capable of having a calm, in depth discussion about religious or faith topics?.
i have just finished listening to a great podcast by "dogma debate" (dan) episode 333. this fantastic, in-depth conversation between a theist and an atheist was a masterful example of how a dignified conversation can take place without it resorting to abruptness or even nastiness.. jws on the other hand seem incapable of having such discussion without ending up in the following ways:.
1)they get dogmatic and defensive if a differing view is presented.. 2)if the conversation doesn't go their way, they cut it short saying something like "well, we had better agree to disagree" or the like.. so why the arrogance?

I recall a well spread lie told at conventions and assemblies maybe 30 years ago, about someone arguing with a member of clergy or say a minister, and after a few studies, lo and behold they became brothers, and the audience chuckled and laughed with smugness. I hated that. Guess that,s where the term boasting session came from.
