From Oregon too pmljohn, close to beaverton. Would be nice to have an apostafest in portland sometime. I know quite a bit of old jw friends that woke up too and are out and would love for all of us to do a get together. If anyone knows when a hookup in Portland can happen, let me know. :)

JW Elder Talks About the Aurora Victims - This is Quite Sick

the news about the aurora victims has spread worldwide and even in tiny cyprus do our hearts go out to the victims families.. .
unfortunately, the watchtower society doesn't see it that way.. .

This shows you why the dubs can't and won't leave there religion. If they do one wrong thing (like watching a movie about a vigilante at midnight) it'll mean death for them. Adam and Eve did one wrong thing and death was the consequence. Children mocking Elisha = shebear on their ass. How many examples in the bible do we have if you slip up one time, its your life on the line. JWs live in fear constantly of not just losing their immortality but also their mortality, it could happen anytime. And when people die from uncommon actions, they're quick to say that person must have done something wrong. Soooo messed up. Those people got mowed down and instead of feeling remorse or anger at the shooter, this elder says they died because they were sinners. Yep, sounds like the witlesses.

More legal trouble for the WT? jw.org
by blond-moment inhttp://www.scribd.com/doc/99911315/lorterdan-properties-at-ramapo-i-llc-vs-watchtower-bible-and-tract-society-of-new-york-inc-case-11-cv-3656-cs.
anyone speak legal-ese?
sounds to me, (not fluent in legal-ese mind you or real estate-ese) like they are being sued for a bad real estate deal.

Things that were supposedly demonized
by freshstart ini was just thinking about all the fear i had when i was a kid that i would be attacked by demons if i wasn't careful.
i mean i lived in absolute terror over it, so i'm going to reminisce about the things i was told were demonized and you can add to the list if you'd like:.
lucky charms cerealcount dracula cerealitems bought at garage sales where there was a cross or anything religious present"hotel california" by the eagles (now one of my favorite songs)wwjd braceletsscooby dooi remember being so scared of every little noise that whenever i would turn off my light to go to bed, i would say "jehovah, jehovah!

Sadly, one of the main reasons my family are still devout jws is because they have had demon scares on multiple occasions. They have asked me how I can refute what has happened, how else can i explain it. I told them that there are many different explanations, but they don't want to hear it. Their fear in demons helps provide more faith in their god.

My Online Conversation With a Jehovah's Witness About Blood
by cofty inthe following is from the comments section of the independent article about the 22 year old jw with sickle cell anaemia who died in england last week while refusing blood.
maria makes aguest sound laconic so i don't blame you if you can't be bothered reading it all but the jw cliches and lies are all too familiar.
i'm guessing she is at the thursday meeting about now so maybe she will respond again later.. .

leavingwt: I recall reading a comment that 'Vinny' made beneath an article on MSNBC.com regarding the JWs helping repair homes in New Orleans, after Hurricane Katrina. I was still a JW and his words affected me. (That article its comments can be found here: Jehovah's Roofing Service )
I decided to read the comments in that article, you can totally notice most of them if not all were dubs. And just with how they talk I was getting flashbacks of the religion... I think I'm gonna be sick.

Planning an Escape: Truth Triumphs Over Lies!
by 00DAD inoften during wt/book studies and/or public talks i would be following along and note little discrepancies and inconsistencies.
perhaps it was a scripture that didn't really support the point being asserted in the paragraph or maybe it was an illustration that sounded good but wasn't completely parallel or maybe it was a line of reasoning that wasn't as conclusive or solid as the speaker/elder/co/wt publication made it out to be.
or maybe it was the excessive use of weasel words like, "evidently," "perhaps," "must have" and so on.

Thanks for the story and encouragement, 00dad. Hopefully, some day your son will leave and he'll be happy to have you there for him despite all of the heartache and hurt that has been done to you. I am in the same boat on the other end. I still have many family members in the religion including my parents and sister. And I still think about them everyday and how to help them with their escape too. They rarely talk to me, the only time is to update me on their new address or if a relative is really sick. I know they still love me, but they love their "immortality" even more and are too afraid deep down to leave or even question anything. Just remember, we're all family here, adopted brothers and sisters, parents and children. We may have lost some to the religion, but we gained alot more. We understand and are there for each other, because we know the true meaning of love.

Do you still say JEHOVAH when scared to chase away the demons?
by Greybeard ini was scared stiff of the demons all of my life growing up as a jw.
you know the stories.
i am way more open minded now that i have been out for 3 years or so.

If that video is real or not, who's to say if its a demon or just a spirit. The things that are unknown don't have to be considered harmful. In fact, how many people in the news die from ghosts or other things supernatural? The evil ones are us humans killing each other, thats who we should be afraid of more than demons or satan. Good video though. :)

I feel ya Greybeard. When something scares the crap out of me or waking up from a nightmare, I have to catch myself from even thinking the name Jehovah. Many years of indoctrination. And when I do realize I was going to call on my former religion's false god, i kick myself everytime. Same thing happened to me with Satan popping up on my screen. My brother sent me a link to the site and you had to really focus on some dumb maze or something. This was right when i was getting out of the religion and I also forgot my speakers were on the loudest possible since i was listening to some music beforehand. Well, lets just say when the screen went red, a scary demon figure popped up, loud screams of people all in my room, I don't think I've ever been scared that much in my life lol. That affected me for the whole day, just realizing how vulnerable i was but i still wasn't going back to the damn religion.
You did well to go back and laugh at it. They should have warnings on those sites. And if you can't get Jehovah out of your head, repeat something else, like Sparlock. Lol.

Caleb's dad

My only guess is that the voice actor is one of the higher ups in the org and wanted to get his voice some screen time. I also wonder what language of the mother is. The way she says jehovah and satan cracks me up everytime. Je-HO-vah...... SA-an. Can't wait for more of their videos to come out. Too much fun.
