in this ch we learnhow we should confess to the elders our sins and accept reproving with a humble heart because the elders arent the enemy, satan is.

They just read a letter to the congs that each cong will get about 50 bibles for placement in a few weeks.

my friend/elder condtantly tells me to visit bethel to prove its gods org--efficient, obedient, loving place, yadda yadda.
and he also uses how many go out and preach the same message, how no matter where you go youll get the same loving treatment, follow the bible as best they can (ha), show lots of love, do t celebrate pagan holidays, etc etc.

just wondering why they would call the headquartes 'bethel', supposedly the 'house of god'.. what is 'bethel' really?

the watchtower bible and tract society states, with every fiber of its organization and publishing house, that you should not read the bible (not even everyday), without the holy bible additionally being accompanied by and explained by the watchtower bible and tract societys own publications.. the watchtower society and its witnesses claim that one can not understand the holy bible without the guidance of the watchtower publications.. the statement on the watchtower publishing building in brooklyn is therefore at best deceiving, lacking an under-title stating that one should not read the bible without the watchtowers additive writings.
thus the watchtower publishing house is deceiving (lying to) those who read this statement on their building... the watchtower publishing house is already familiar with explanatory subtitles to what they publicize, among others, the subtitles to the watchtower magazine.. the governing body of the watchtower witnesses (whom abuses g-ds holy name), excluded 4 out of the 7 members of the governing body in 1919, with the double vote by their president rutherford, when the watchtower magazines underscore shifted its wording from preaching the kingdom of jesus christ to preaching jehovahs kingdom.

i heard that there is an elder in each congregation that follows very closely what is being said from stage to make sure everything is being said correctly.
in all my years as a jw , i don't ever remember this at the local level.

You're probably referring to the "Auxiliary Counselor". It's not new. The School Overseer counsels just those who give talks on the School, except for the Bible Highlights. The Auxiliary Counselor counsels everyone else (Service Meeting parts, Bible Highlights and Public Talk, if necessary). They are supposed to rotate this annually among the elders. The reality is a that the Auxiliary Counselor forgets his job most of the time and doesn't do much in the way of counseling. At least, that's been my experience.
she downloaded the jw library app which has the parallel versions of a verse, and upon looking at john 17:3, she said the above to me.
i wonder if this will start causing chinks in the armor for many jws, especially when they look up john 14:14 or rev.

I was stunned when they said they were including the Kingdom Interlinear. I mean, let's just put the NWT side by side with the Greek and looky what we have here!!! (Rev 5:10 anyone?) And if there's any doubt to "over the earth" vs. "upon the earth", one could look at the actual Kingdom Interlinear inside the front cover to see the visualization of certain Greek works, including those that translate to "over" and "upon". I mean, wow...
As for the defensiveness, they used a lot of the same doublespeak at the Annual Meeting. "Some critics say" this or that. "Many scholars recognize" this or that. Obviously, no actual names were named. But, since it was a GB member saying it, it must be true! (or so the average JW will think and not even bother to check into it.)
The continue to harp on inserting the name Jehovah in there. In fact, in the Appendix on page 1721, it gives a list of things that a reliable translation must do. Number one on that list: "Sanctify God's name by restoring it to its rightful place in the Scriptures. Matthew 6:9" I told my wife that there are plenty of translations out there that do that in one form or another. Some use Jehovah. Some use Yahweh. Some use YHWH. The NWT is not the only Bible with God's name in it, so I don't know why the Society is harping on that. That's old news with regard to bible translation.
