i was pondering this teaching yesterday.

Contradictory Timelines - Do they REALLY think we are this stupid?

so in today's wt, as brought out in another thread, it is the nations that make the declaration of "peace and security.

" yet just a few paragraphs later they claim, in answer to their own question of who declares "peace and security", that the bible doesn't say.. in the very next paragraph they say that angels are holding back the destructive winds of the great tribulation.

to answer their next question as to what those angels are waiting for they say the wait is for the "annointed" to receive their second sealing, referring to a 2007 q/r which says the second sealing is finished only when the "annointed" (including the gb) are in heaven.

1 Cor 10:10-17 (JWs follow whatever WTS says, regardless of what the Bible says, causing divisions themselves)

James 1:27 (this is actually an ongoing Biblical theme... Isa 1:16,17 and 1:21-23)

Acts 11:26 (called Christians... in Antioch, not in Jerusalem where the supposed governing body was)

Acts 1:8 (witnesses of me, referring to the Christ)

John 5:23 (honor the Son)

John 5:37 (the Father has borne witness about the Christ)

1 John 5:9 (God has borne witness concerning his Son)

Matt 17:5 (God says of his son: "listen to him")

John 6:53 (Unless anyone eats his flesh or drinks his blood (partakes), they have no life in themselves)

Rev 20:12-15 (scrolls opened (timing is after the thousand years have ended, not during), the dead judged out of the things written (not "new scrolls" to teach us how to live during the thousand years)

Immoral sleeping arrangement?

i'm reading through the watchtower rule book right now and i came to the chapter clarification and guidelines on handling certain matters.

there is a part about scriptural divorce and even if adultery is not proved if your ex stayed all night or is involved in an immoral sleeping arrangement you can get scriptural grounds to remarry.. .

they make a rule, then they have to make a rule for the rule, make another rule for the rule for the rule.

I once commented to my wife that Ruth would have been disfellowshipped since she slept at Boaz' feet all night prior to them being married.

Ruth 3:7-13: Meantime Bo′az ate and drank, and his heart was feeling good. Then he went to lie down at the extremity of the grain heap. I was pondering this teaching yesterday. The claim is that Jesus and Jehovah came and inspected all the religions and in 1919, chose Rutherford as the FDS. Today, the claim is that the Governing Body is the FDS. Does this mean that Jesus and Jehovah inspected all the religions EACH TIME before choosing the next FDS member(s)? How can the current GB claim to be the FDS if this didn't happen? Since there is no claim for inspection after 1919, then this completely obliterates the GB = FDS teaching since the current GB were not in existence in 1919 and therefore could not have been selected. The only one that could possibly have been selected, according to the strictest interpretation of the teaching, is Rutherford. No one else. The master only appointed ONE slave, not a succession of slaves.

I have the original NWT in a MySQL database. Did that when rumors started about a revised version. I wanted the original for comparison purposes. Does anyone happen to have the revised version in text files in book, chapter, verse, passage format? I'd love to import into another MySQL database. I use mine for research purposes, so it would be great for topical comparisons.

2014 DC: Fewer, but larger venues in the U.S.

in the u.s. there are fewer venues this year, but they will be held in larger facilities.

as long as i can remember my family travelled no more than 2 hours to attend and in the last few years the dc was local (within a few minutes travel).

this year my family is driving 6 hours to a major u.s. city.

The international conventions are being held in the U.S. his year. Quite a few of them. The idea is to have a GB member and one of the "given ones" (still can't believe they're using that term.... it's so Mosaic Law) give talks and tie in other convention sites. It's all about timing the tie-ins, so to get the largest distribution of U.S. DC attenders to here the GB member speak, it makes sense to have larger venues elsewhere. To me, it seems like more GB worship. I honestly think this is what this is all about.

Funny, one of my relatives has a picture of one of the GB members she met on her refrigerator, but no picture of Jesus anywhere in the house. If that isn't idolatry, I don't know what is.

I keep thinking of what Christ said: "Come to me you who are toiling and loaded down and I will refresh you... For my yoke is kindly and my load is light" and, regarding the Pharisees: "They bind up heavy loads and put them upon the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger."

No 2014 JW Yearbook (Yet as of 1-6-14)

for me is very strange that the yearbook for 2014 is not out yet on the internet and/or gongregations.

is strange to me because it is a book that comes annually, and no word yet from the borg of it.

you don't expect something like that from the wt/fds/gb to be dlayed that much.. it makes me wonder, what's going on???

Er, what? "rotating domain names"? Had to look that one up. That's apparently an interesting tactic spammers and obfuscators use. That makes me wonder now...
