Did the society official track each member of the 144,000?

when i left witness land in the early 90's, i remember hearing that out of 144,000 anointed members that there were only 8 to 9 thousand left and then the end will come.. i'm suddenly curious.

the jw organization is one that puts emphasis on tracking, i.e., regular meeting attendance, current standing, field service hours, territory tracking, return visits, etc.

therefore, did the society ever try to track each and every member of the 144,000?

There is a box on every publishers ministry record card to say if you profess to be one of the anointed or not.

While this is true, it is not reported back to the branch, but Elder, MS and Reg Pio are. Go figure. The one statistic they SHOULD be concerned with, they are not. How in the world would two "anointed" people from different parts of the world even know about each other? If those two were standing next to each other at a convention, they would have no idea that the person next to them was their brother/sister in Christ. The thought wouldn't even cross their mind.

Our local RBC tried to get people to go to the KHs in the territory where they lived a few years back. They mapped out where everyone lived and showed by data that some people were driving at least three territories away to attend a congregation. Why? Because they simply couldn't get along with people. So, the RBC figured out that we don't need new KHs. They decided the best approach would be to have the elders take the lead and GO WHERE THEY BELONGED. Guess what? That went over like a lead balloon. One elder very adamantly REFUSED to do so and put the entire thing in jeopardy. The C.O. got involved and the whole thing was dropped.

The RBC was right. We didn't need NEW halls. We needed people to quit being babies and act like real Christians and forgive their brothers and sisters. In the end, it didn't happen.

People shift congregations all the time. It doesn't matter what the branch says. People are going to do what they want to. If congregations merge, expect people to shift again, to another hall somewhere else. That's the nature of it all.

The lion king mufasa in today's WT?

i swear its straight out of the lion king, the scene were scar throws mufasa into the stampede "long live the king" that scene.. i wonder how many jw kids will be picking up on this today?

Had my Hopes up for this Regional Convention

heard a lot buzz for our upcoming convention.

those that already been were saying how great it was and all the videos that were presented.. well, thus far not impressed!

in fact many times pure insanity!

They've been calling inactive ones lost sheep for decades. Sadly, this is not what Christ meant when he was talking about the lost sheep of the house of Israel. He was talking about people who had a longing for God but "were skinned and thrown about like sheep without a shepherd." (Matt 9:36,37)

Thinking of Going Full Disclosure With Wife. Sorta

I finally told my wife about a year ago. Same reaction as most here have had from their wives. I let it drop for awhile, but it kept coming up every few months. Apparently, she did go to the elders, but they told her that as long as I wasn't spreading anything, there wasn't anything they could do about it. Of course, she couldn't be specific with them as she never let me divulge to her things I discovered.

Our marriage is terrible. Not much fighting or arguing anymore. But the eye rolls, the inability to even make eye contact, the look of disgust when I walk into the room, the not sleeping in the same room... it's all terrible. I cannot help but feel that the storm is approaching.

Having read Daniel Genser's story, I have a feeling of shock and awe. I know Daniel and Devon personally, as acquaintences. I worked with them on an RBC project a few years back and even visited them in their home. It's been a few years, though. For them to go from full-blown JWs to out in a matter of less than a year is nothing more than incredible. I wish I had the chance to talk with them both before they moved to the other side of the planet.

so, we've already kind of had the discussion about the 10/15/2015 study edition of the watchtower, especially the article entitled "the naive person believes every word.".

but one thing i noticed about this article...the web address and html code has a different title.. the html title is "is it true because it is on the internet?".

The article has one main thrust:

And what should you do if you find slanderous news about Jehovah’s organization on the Internet? Such material should be firmly rejected.

The message?

'While the rest of the news should be treated with caution, and if you have time (who does?) make sure what you read is true before spreading it, but if it's bad news about the organization, you don't even have to bother because it must be false.'

Talk about double-speak.

i noticed that anthony morris iii just said on the broadcast: "while we cannot control everything that an individual might say, it is clear that over the decades protecting children from abuse is a top priority for this organization.".

Island Man, I'm glad you posted that. When I wrote what I would do for a policy, this was a hard one. I went back and forth in my mind whether I'd name the accused name or not. Now that I think further about this, naming a name, if falsely done, could be construed as slander. That's a problem, too. You bring up a reasonable alternative.

This, no doubt, is similar to the discussions they must have from time to time behind closed doors.

Like I said, a policy for this is HARD to come up with, especially one that protects everyone involved.

Any other thoughts anyone?
