Thanks guys, I never heard of her. Heard of Pat Boone, but don't know that much about him either. LOL, James such contempt man!
Pat Boone used to record the hit songs that Black entertainers recorded first; his was another version of the hits. We used to buy all the hit songs and never once bought one of his. He was a dud in our opinion, (my sisters and all my friends).Just listen to him sometime. I think he recorded Ain't that (it) a Shame a little while after Fats Domino recorded it. Can you imagine competing with Fats Domino?

My life ... and how JWD came to be - Part 1
by Simon ina few people have asked how jwd came about and what my own story is and while i've posted it in bits and bobs, i've never tried to tell it as a story so here goes .... living in suburbia.
i was born a jw to jw parents who had recently been missionaries / pioneers in ireland and taken literature into countries like spain when it was banned but who were now living in suburbia near to where they had both been brought up.
we lived in a new semi-detached house in a cul-de-sac at the bottom of a hill - fantastic for building go-carts and racing down !

Interesting quotes from the Feb 15th Watchtower (it's not a cult at all, honest!)...
by cedars inwell it's the 15th today, so i thought i'd check to see whether the feb 15th watchtower has been uploaded yet... and sure enough it has.. here is the link to the pdf.... http://download.jw.org/files/media_magazines/5a/w_e_20130215.pdf.
i've breezed through it and noticed that it is littered with odd stuff that would scream "cult!
" to an outsider, but which your average indoctrinated jw will just lap up as always.. here is my pick of the quotes.... the first article, entitled "this is our spiritual heritage" gives a very flattering whistle-stop tour of the history of god's organization - from abraham to tynedale to rutherford (bypassing russell altogether) before explaining that nothing will ever thwart jehovah's purposes.

cedars, glad you're posting again, thanks for the video.
I can't believe I ever took this stuff seriously. Now, it's not only creepy, but "Are you kidding me?" How do they come up with all this stuff. There is no proof for their assertions. They just say it.
At least two of the people in that picture are wearing UNAPPROVED western style string ties...
James, what do they have against "western style string ties?" Did some bad person mentioned in the Bible wear one at one time? Kind of like people dying during someone's birthday, now no one can celebrate a birthday. Reminds me of when they disapproved of leisure suits, dingo boots and long hair on men. Does God even care what you wear!

Remembering Our Dear Richard Rawe
by Dogpatch inrichard m. rawe was born may 10, 1934. he died in his sleep a little before midnight, october 26, 1012, in soap lake, washington.
his death was caused by probable acute myocardial infarction and cardiovascular disease.. in 1995, richard had a major stroke that left him with damage to his vocal cords.
previous to the stroke he had a beautiful speaking voice and was much in demand as a speaker in kingdom halls in the northwest when he was a jehovahs witness prior to 1975. in his later years, richard was the host with the raspy, croaky voice of the dialogue telephone conference-line program which hundreds of people listened to twice a month on saturday evening.. up until his death, richard was an attractive, partially balding, gray-haired man, still tall and elegant in appearance, who carried himself with class and dignity no matter how bad he physically felt.

Thanks for posting this, Randy. He was quite a man. I heard him when Candi's lawyer was interviewed in the radio. A great loss for all who oppose the WTS.

Taking alcohol into the veins (WBT$ illo) - can someone deconstruct this for me?
by punkofnice inok. so i've heard that the wbt$ say that having alcohol into the body intraveniously (how do you spell it?
), when the doctor says you shouldn't have alcohol is baaaadddd!
so you wouldn't have a blood transfusion because invisible sky friend jar hoover says it's baaaaaddddddd.. no doubt the illustration is beyond crazy but how is the best way to deconstruct it?.

Someone made a comment on AGuest's thread (the one that was closed),about Jesus saying (at the Last Supper) Take, drink, this is my blood that I give on your behalf,(paraphrasing). I had not ever thought about it, but if Jesus could say this, even though the wine was symbolic of his blood, it seems to me that Jesus had no problem with drinking blood. Makes sense to me.
I'm not sure, but I would think puting alcohol directly into the veins could prove fatal.

How do you keep your hopes up while in this doomed existence?
by sabastious incoming from aguest's thread where she showed us the article that describes a "brain drain" that has been occuring for centuries do to "mutations" i can't help but be a little fed up with how much negativity comes from the land of science.
sure, facts are facts and they do not set out to sound good or bad, but instead of identifying the problems of doom, like our brains are devolving, why not focus on the solutions to those problems?
where are the hopes and dreams that our culture so desperately holds onto which actually provides the drive to progress towards them.

A Loving father.
by creativhoney inone parallel i always remember is that jehovah god is likened to a loving father.
i have often wondered what kind of loving parent would go out indefinitely, not say where they were and leave their kids a vague and cryptic note of what to do while they were gone?
i have wondered what kind of parent would make it hard for their kids to figure out exactly what was expected of them, or watch them fail miserably from a distance.

Is that the father that has to be praised day and night? Is he that unsure of himself, or that narcissistic?

And really, how can the Faithful Slave not know who the Faithful Slave is? The apostles knew they were apostles. The prophets knew they were prophets. Jesus knew he was the Christ.
They must have an self-identification problem. They are who they have to be an any given time. The identity problem is resolved with new light.
It's an amazing maneuver of self-promotion. I am wondering if the real aim is to erase the wall between the "Annointed" and the "Great Crowd", so they can do away with the literal 144000 doctrine.
Now, that new light would blow me away, but I would not be surprised to see them do it. How do you think that would benefit their status?
