there is a lovely site where one may light a candle for a moment of silence.. http://www.gratefulness.org/candles.
i set up a group, where they may all flicker together, if you like.. http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=oompa.

we had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.
fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.
i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.
Winston, I love how the beginning of each of your opening sentences spells out your JWN name. Very cleaver.

i have only been visiting here a couple weeks... but i wanted to say thank you to everyone.
i read threads here on my breaks from work or late @ night... and you guys have finally given me the push i need to read a book i bought 5 years ago... crisis of conscience.
i have mostly grown beyond the whole jw thing except that my pops is still there... he doesnt shun me and doesnt preach to my kids and i respect him for that... i just hold hope that i can find something to help him get out... (he does the same hoping me and my bros/sis will come back) ... all informative stuff here... and im enjoying the book i should have read along time ago... so many thanks to you all!.
but in the end I decided to back off with a few of them, especially those who are getting along in years and have given their whole life to the W.T, some of them I reckon would whither and die if they left, they simply do not have the strength of character to handle it.
thinking_not_believing, Welcome to the JWN, Just wanted to say that I agree with what Phizzy said above. As long as you have a relationship with your pop, keep it. Just take it slow as you continue on your journey away from clutches of the WTBS.

Mr & Mrs Smith, glad to have you back. Looking forward to reading your thoughts and comments.

Has anyone ever written a letter to the BOE as a xjw? If so, what kind of response have you received?
PHG
booker-t, it is not their talking about me among themselves that bothers me, it is their misrepresenting their relationship to me to my friends that makes me angry. If they are going to shun me, then they should not act as though we have a relationship to the world, to my friends or my associates. I feel I am being used. It is deceitful on their part. They do not have the guts to tell people that they are shunning xjws. I guess I want to call them out and make them admit that they shun xjws. I feel that I have to speak up for myself. I know it will not change things but they may learn not to mess with me. I just learned a new French term from the dictionary: a bon chat, bon rat, which means to a good cat, a good rat: retaliation in kind. I may be petty, but my uber jw cousins treat me like dirt and I feel I have to say something on my behalf. This man, who I have never met or seen is acting like we are friends and it just makes me angry. I want the world to know how Jehovah's Witnesses really are.

Scott77, I had intended to have it printed in the local paper where they live but their mother, my aunt, died today. If my Catholic cousin appoves of my having it published, I will do it. If he says no, I will have
to respect his wishes. I will however have it published in my hometown, which is a large city. I think it should have an impact because the world is not aware of how xjws are shunned and mistreated by jws.

since i have recently received all of my cooking stuff out of storage from indiana i decided i wanted to do something i haven't done in a long while: cook a big thanksgiving feast and invite family and dear friends.
the friends won't be a problem, it's the family that mostlikely won't show.
i've asked my brother who lives fairly close and he said he didn't know because he and his wife would be coming home for a trip two days before.
I love cooking a Thanksgiving meal. There are only three of us (family) to cook for so it's not so much fun. One of my friends has invited my son, his wife, and me over for TG dinner so that's where I will have my Thanksgiving dinner. Have you got any good recipes to share. We might mosey on down to Ms Cedars Cooking thread and share some good recipes. I love to try new dishes.

00DAD, Thanks, as I told LHG, I will make it perfectly clear that I do not want their frienship or approval. Although, I do not expect an answer from the BOE, I am bracing myself for a phone call from my uber jw sisters or nephews. You know they don't like it when we don't know our place.
Thanks for liking my handle. I might have been more creative had I paid more attention to other's handles. I think your handle is very original.

the other day i overheard a conversation about jws and somebody said jws don't celebrate birthdays.
the other one said he has a few friends who are jws and while they don't celebrate their own birthdays, they do celebrate his.... then a thought crossed my mind: what if those of us who did not switch to another religion and have a somewhat non-jw lifestyle (not that hard) just keep saying we are jws?
given that there should be more ex-jws than jws by now, how would that influence the public view of jws?.
Actually, I was talking to my cousin, who has decided to become a jw at the age of 69 after the rest of us in the family have been in since before we were old enough to go to school. She told me that jws were the only ones who witnessed. I told her I witnessed about Jehovah and was witnessing at the time we were speaking. She had no answer. I guess you are on to something, anyone who speaks about God, Jehovah, is a Witness of Jehovah.
Have they trademarked the name or is it a generic name like Christian?
