New here, well, sort of...
by L3G inbeen lurking here for years but finally decided to come out, at least partially.
of all things, the post of 'bats in the belfry' re: the supposed break up of gb member geoffrey jackson and his cute (ex-?

A 3 phase great tribulation.?? Has anybody else heard this before? July 15 2013 Watchtower

on pg 3 par 3 of july 15 2013 watchtower it says "for a number of years, we thought that the great tribulation began in 1914 with world war i and that "those days were cut short" by jehovah in 1918 when the war ended so that the remnant would have the opportunity to preach the good news to all nations.
" after the completion of that preaching work,satans empire would be destroyed.

Mad Sweeney-I completely understand where you are coming from. It is sickening to read some of this stuff. The only reason I'm doing it now is because of most of my family and friends are still in..but as of a couple months ago 2 other family members are slowly coming out and I'm excited to do more research again to try and reason with them.

Am I the only one that never heard this before? On pg 3 par 3 of July 15 2013 watchtower it says "For a number of years, we thought that the great tribulation began in 1914 with World War I and that "those days were cut short" by Jehovah in 1918 when the war ended so that the remnant would have the opportunity to preach the good news to all nations." After the completion of that preaching work,Satans empire would be destroyed. Thus, the great tribulation was thought to have three phases: There would be a beginning (1914-1918)' the tribulation would be interrupted (1918 onward)' and it would conclude at Armageddon." My husband, mom, or myself have never heard this belief before. Has anybody else? Since there are so many publications for witnesses..maybe we missed it. Just curious.

@Bob_NC -it's funny because I used to tell my Mom that the society preached that the end would come in 1975..even showing her articles (cuz i wasnt born then) but she would deny that they ever taught that, when they clearly did. You just never know when a family or friend will ever realize all the lies.. We can never lose hope.

I am mostly a lurker here..i check this website everyday. My husband and I left the religion 3 years ago. All my family were active JWs when we left, but that is all changing now. I NEVER thought the day would come that my mother is realizing something is desperately wrong with this organization! She was born and raised in this religion but is on her way out. She really wants to talk with someone who was an elder/bethelite just to talk with them about what made them realize something wasn't right while holding a position. If anyone is interested in helping me out I would greatly appreciate it. Please PM me. Thanks!

What is the most out of line / disturbing experience you have seen from Circuit Overseers?
by Poindexter Lionel Humperdique ini once heard of a circuit overseer blaming a loyal ministerial servant, that served as the accounts servant, of steeling from the contribution boxes, simply because he deposited the congregation funds bi-weekly instead of twice a week.
due to the accusation, the ms was immediately removed without hearing his side of the story.
isn't this rather counter-intuitive and innefficient?

At the meetings and at the assemblies the CO would have the elders block off the last 5 or 6 rows of seating so everybody would sit closer towards the stage. At one assembly there were about 40-50 people waiting to find seats while all the back rows were blocked off. I was so happy when his 3 years were over!!!
