God, it reminded me of sitting in the kingdom hall in a captured condition again, listening to them beating around the bush and dodging the issues presented to them.

i was looking at the june 1, 1985 watchtower, pg.

29-31 with its legalistic baptism vows, where one recognizes their association with gods spirit-directed organization, when i was struck by the context of the article.. essentially it gives a last minute warning about proper decorum with swim-wear used for baptism a serious and solemn occasion.

great post. I remember the fun times back then. I was a preteen in the early sixties and the congregation that I was in did similar things that you mentioned. We would go to a far away territory to preach. Before the drive there, all of the adults would pack a big picnic style lunch with all the trimmings. After witnessing, around noon time we would go to a nearby beach, or lake or park and recreate the rest of the day. Its all gone now. Sad huh?

UN turns on false religion

i heard from a sister in vienna that at the summer convention there is going to be an announcement about the fact that the un are setting up something to do with combatting religious fundamentalism in the wake of the terrorist attacks in america.

it seems they are going to suggest that this indicates the fulfilling of prophesy and that this shows that the end is near.

i don't know if it is true, but that is what i heard.. beaten, corrupted, dying.

4 more days till I leave the Watchtower

in a few more days i'll be making my departure from the wts, part of me is relieved and yet another part of me is dreading the drama i'll be going through shortly.

i've been trying to prepare myself for the deluge of questions that i know are sure to come from my family.

my wife will be the first person i tell obviously and then i'll tell my mother and younger brother.

Do the fade thing Leander. Always be too busy for a visit by anyone from the "bossman club". Do not answer questions. Be too much in a hurry for conversation if they catch you unawares. As far as your family is concerned, be too tired to go to the meetings. If you have just a little ache, you can even be too sick to go. haha
That is the advice that was given to me. It works for me. Doing it the other way that was mentioned, writting a letter, will put you in the position of being mistreated by 6,000,000 folks.

Think of facing a ferocious animal. You might not have a great fear of animals and may decide to face and fight it head on, or you can run. If you decide to run that may be the best thing to do. If you decide to face it, maybe that might be the better thing to do. Only you can estimate your circustances and determine what the outcome might be.

Don't let no one take your dignity, and don't give it away.

The WTS are used to dealing with people that they have under their control. They have for decades hushed people under their control with scare tactics. They have always ended on top of all problems because of the iron fisted domination.
They are now dealing with people that they have lost control of. They are backed in a corner and they are losing the fight. They have to fight their way out even though they wish that it would go away. They do not know how to contend with this kind of situation. They will not be able to use the confidential scapegoat this time. They have to tell the accused the reason for actions against them. In turn those charges can be used against "them" if they are inaccurate. They are in a lose lose situation.
