Once Again: It's Okay for JWs to Rip-Off Non-JWs
by Iown Mylife intoday i heard from the owner of a small restaurant, the story of how a brother in a local congregation ripped him off for thousands.
the restaurant owner is not a jw but totally familiar with the cult, as his mother is a long-time baptized sister.
she asked him to hire this wonderful brother from her congregation to do construction work he needed at his house.

Crying "Wolf!"
by Phizzy inthe wt/gb have been doing this for so long now that i get the feeling it has really had its day.
even when i was in, i for one had no fear of armageddon, or any real belief i would see it in my lifetime anyway.
i could feel then that it was difficult to really get any sense of urgency pushing the bros, they just carried on with life, admittedly, with most of them still hoping to actually see a paradise earth.. i get the feeling now that even long time jw's like my jw family are resigned to not seeing the "end", and more importantly, i think the general smell of bull***t that comes from the gb has taken away a lot of the respect they used to get, and means that their chief weapon fear , is losing its power.. the fear of being df'd is still wielded as a weapon very effectively, but all the "end is soooo close" stuff has run out of puff with most of the r&f.. the wt has "cried wolf" for far too long ..

What would you do if a major disaster was heading your way in three or six months from now?
Right, so if the JWs really believed in Armageddon would they not do something! If you believed in "A"
Would you include prayers for the people so God would change his mind!
It would be the first thing on any JWs mind when visiting others. Prepare for a real natural disaster! It would be a constant on going conversation!
There is no evidence that JWs actually believe WT end days! I never got in to a Satuday morning car with JWs talking about "A"
It would be heartless to let loved one who were inactive of dfd die! So Jws would make sure they talked with them and prayed until the final hour!
About the GB, they were never really important in the sixties and seventies. So it is hard to grasp how they are now the 144,000. I do not recall talks about them. Just a bunch if old dudes ready for the grave! Proving the Last generation was ready to die off.
What are they going to do at Memorial because only the 144,000 partook, but, if the GB are the 144,000 that would mean all the partakers are false!
Can you imagine how hard these changes are on seniors! Hard to switch the old doctrines off!
I feel sorry for the ones who are still in and seeing their doctrines collapse yet they are not mentally and emotionally prepared! They must feel something stress, nervous break downs, heart issues, more cancer, lot of physicall illness.
Denial just causes illnesses.

JWs no longer taking the Governing Body seriously.
by kneehighmiah inthe recent letter being us to come to detroit shows that jws are beginning not to take the gb seriously anymore.
the buzz following the meeting was that the letter was unprecedented in its tone.
this coming from long time jws of 30 years plus.

I am sorry that you had to go to the meeting.
Most JW do not listen during the meetings letters and all. People check out as soon as they enter the door.

Elders and DF'ing
by Crazyguy into those that have been df'd do they elders imply or tell you that you no longer have a relationship with god and you can't even pray to him until your back in?
i was watching a video and the former jw was implying this.

Never heard that one, but it is in WT: That God does not hear dfd ones prayers. God's active force,holy spirit,left dfd because they are practicing sin!
There might be some elders out there thinking he has rights to tell someone that there is no reason to pray, because Jehovah will not hear you. I do not recall any elder making that statement to me.
I personally heard elders start little discussions about this topic with younger JWs to scare them! In the sixties and seventies, members jumped in on the band wagon to scare their friends and family. The voice of warning!
I think it is a heavy mind control technique that sets people up for failure!
Becoming aware of mind control traps!

Was There Anything A JW Said That Made You Raise Your Eyebrows?

he liked using the "n" word in his comments.
he one time started to comment about the "ni##er pool" that he would observe among the poorer blacks.

Sure it is something I would never forget. My father was murdered unsolved in the 70s, the following week two elders visited. They stated that it was better that my father died before armageddon because he would probably never make it through God's wrath. They were so kind! My dad was nice to all of them and they pretended to like him when he was living.

I will worry about you when you start going door to door proclaiming your a messenger,prophet, from God declaring good news with a number of criteria! Maybe I should worry about the elders. They need to be reminded. LOL.

Also, your right about lurkers and this site needs more pro JW to help other lurkers! Lurkers are going to relate to the pro JW mind set not the exJW. :-)
JW protecting their faith will sometimes be on the defensive and attack others. Just a reminder many here are hurting but the practicing JW are afraid of everything and they are too numbed to feel hurt or know why!

when the dust settles, it all comes down to blind faith in men's ever-changing ideas.

Donations - how much is normal?
by Frazzled UBM inhow much would a well-off witness be expected to donate?
my wife has just withdrawn a few hundred pounds from her account and refuses to tell me why so i suspect she plans to donate it as she hasn't donated for a while because she knows i don't want our money going to the organisation.
is it likely that she is feeling under pressure to make a large donation?.
