  Would You Now Feel Uncomfortable Taking Blood?

  now that you know about the truth of the blood doctrine, would you feel, even a little bit uncomfortable agreeing to take a blood transfusion?

  btw, my mother asked me if i would still honor her wishes for refusal of blood.

  i told her that even though my view has changed, i would respect her decision, even if i felt that it was wrong.

  I would have no problem having a blood transfusion if it were going to save my life.

  Years ago my mom got married to a man(since divorced)who lost his wife in childbirth.They said she died because she bled to death.It was a huge media circus back in the day.She left behind 2 beautiful little boys,and an infant baby girl.Of course they are my step siblings whom I love dearly.One of those boys grew up to be an elder,and has no problem enforcing that policy.Perhaps in his eyes,his mother died a martyr.But that infant girl,now in her 20's,never got to meet her mother.Does anyone think it was worth that?The youngest boy,who was 5 when his mom died,and very close to her,grew up to passionately hate an organization that could brainwash it's adherents into believing death is a better option to life.A sad story that breaks my heart when ever I think about it.

  How do you deal with dub friends?

  i would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their replys to my thread titled "i cant move on", and express my gratitude for your genuine and helpful advise.. i am happy to say that i am certainly in the process of moving on and healing the wounds that have been inflicted by the wt.

  there is only one problem that remains............. i have a few dub friends who i do still consider to be very good friends.

  i made a decision that i would never try to push my discoveries of the curroption within the org on them, and keep our conversations very neutral.

  I find dealing with this situation difficult too.I still have a couple friends who are active.I try to stay very neutrel.I hate it when they say stuff like "well,when were in paradise" or "Jehovah will take care of that" or whatever.I just cringe.I want them to know the real truth.But they are too blinded by the org.This includes my husband and my family.Actually they would probably have a heart attack if they knew I was posting here.

  Just hang in there and hope that they too will someday find their way out.

  DISAGREE...BUT DON'T BE DISAGREEABLE

  too often we express an opinion and get slammed for it.

  some new ones may post something that they feel and the result is that they are quickly and meanly censured.

  some zealous adherents to a particular notion or ideal verbally smack any that do not support their cause.

  Eveyone is entitled to their opinion.

  I always say it's okay to "agree to disagree".Life would be pretty boring if we all felt the same about everything!

  We all must have respect for eachother.I agree that there is no reason to be disagreeable when we disagree with someone else!

  I have voted for the first time in my life!

  today is a historical day for me.

  today i got up early but instead of going to the kh as i used to for years, i went to the election office to vote in the current election for the german bundestag.. for years, i had a political opinion and hoped that "my" representative wins.

  this time i did my part to ensure this by voting.. it is a strange feeling: being part of this system.

  I voted last election and it was such an awesome feeling.Part of me felt guilty,but the other part said hey,if these governments were "supposedly"allowed to be here by Jehovah for the time being,then why shouldn't I vote?!!! Actually,I didn't care at all if they were put here by God or not.I just wanted to be a part of what everyone else was.I wanted a VOICE! After all,you can't complain about who's in office if you yourself didn't voice your opinion!

  does anyone remember the advice from from the stage, encouraging mothers to remove babies from the room when they were hungry?.

  how about, wooden spoons to beat toddlers into submission, preferably in front of the congegation, as to set an example in disipline?

  was this just in our hall, or was it from the borg?

  memories.....I attended kingdom halls in Mass and Vermont,and both encouraged spanking your child if he/she didn't behave.My mom always had a wooden spoon in her purse,just in case.I just made sure I behaved so I never got hit.I did get snipped (my mom would put her thumb and middle finger together and flick us on the corner of our mouths)quite often for whispering.When my kids were little I never spanked them.If they got antsy I would take them to the baby care room(actually I loved it when they were antsy because then I would have a reason to get up and not have to pay attention to the boring talks....of course they did always have a speaker in the baby room : ( ).My mother and others would tell me kids needed discipline,ie.,corporal punishment,and I would just say my kids would "hear"discipline,not"feel"it.I can remember soooo many kids getting hit,it made me sick to my stomach.There are so many more important things in life than sitting still at a meeting.All those poor kids...growing up with all those bad memories.

  ok so i am really slow, but i finally saw amelie.

  despite everyone telling me how great it was, i was like "yeah whatever"...huge mistake...that movie rocked so much!!

  it's by far one of the sweetest love stories/just all around feel all mushy inside movies.

  My little sister got me hooked on this movie when it was out in theaters.I couldn't wait til it came out on video.Of course I bought it!As a matter of fact I was just watching it yesterday!!There's no way you can watch it and not have a smile on your face!(and to think if I had stayed a witness I would have never had the pleasure of watching it,considering its R rating).Anyone out there that has not watched it needs to go rent it now!

  Have you ever seen a JW with a beard?

  ok, you've probably guessed i'm not talking about the women!.

  but jesus had a beard (just look at any wt publication) so did paul, john the baptiser (or baptist if you've got an earlier publication), etc.. surely all jw men should have beards!

  My brother in law moved here from England a few years ago.He was asked to be in a drama.In the drama the character he was playing had to have a beard.My b-i-l thought great!now I can grow a beard for the part.The brothers told him he couldn't! He is an elder himself,and he said that in England it is not a big deal,that a lot of brothers have beards.They told him it's different in America,so they wouldn't let him!And here he was only trying to make his character true to life.

  I'm with Countrygirl,wearing those stupid napkins on our head! How silly is that?

  I hated it when there were meetings for field service and the only brother there would be a 15 year old newly baptised one.Did I resent being led by a teenager? You betcha!!! Did I want the job myself? No thanks!

  hey vita,

  I totally know what you're going through.I am still"technically" in,so I could get in trouble too.Almost all my family are jw,so I really can't afford to da myself yet,or maybe I just don't have the courage yet.I celebrate everything at work with my friends,go to x-mas parties and all that...I just am careful that my family doesn't find out.

  One thing I did last year because I was feeling a little blue about not being able to decorate for the holidays and stuff...I started a collection of snowmen and put them all over the house with fake snow...what cold my husband and kids say?It was a winter theme after all.Plus I got to keep it up all winter long! that was my way of comprimising.
