Just curious if any one else out there loves this show as much as do.
I think it is one of the best shows on television!

are you happy to have been a jw?
is there a constructive side in it all for you?
or do you wish you had never seen their culty smiles?.
I grew up in this cult. I really don't feel that it did anything constructive for me. I tried to rack my brain to think of any good that came from it,but I can't. Unfortunately, I can think of lots of negative side effects.
If for some reason I think of any happy thoughts, I will get back to you!
omg, how horrible is this:.
you know when you have a certain tune in your head, and you just can't figure out which one it is?
well, i just figured mine out, its "hey daar al gij dorstigen, komt en drink het levenswater vrij".
Sheeesh,am I sorry I decided to read this thread! Make it stop! Really, make it stop, this song always makes me sad!!!!!!
been done before i'm sure, but here we go......... 5. shawshank redemption.
4. air force one.
3. wizard of oz.
TresHappy,
It's funny, I work at a store and whenever someone asks me to change a bill for them I think of that movie. I try to make sure they're not scamming me or trying to confuse me into giving them more money than their owed! LOL
I used to love it when I was younger and that movie was on.I thought Tatem O'Neil was so cool.Hearing about the movie makes me want to go out and buy it now!

I have to agree with NaruNaruChan, Amelie is my number one movie too.
TresHappy, I haven't thought of the movie Paper Moon in ages, but it's always been a fav of mine.
I like too many movies to pick only 5. My list would be too long!
how many out here know a loved one or know of someone who suffers from depression and it is from being in the borg and never feel you are doing enough.
my ex wife would always lapse into a few month state of depression right after a visit from the c/o and getting pounded on about f/s hours or not enough studies or not enough pioneers yadda yadda yadda.
i know with my ex that the constant fear of armageddon and feeling inadequate was a depression trigger ready to be pulled at any instant.
My husband gets depressed easily about not doing enough. If he goes to a meeting and they start talking about going out in service more, or studying with your family more, he comes home depressed.I tell him the meetings are supposed to encourage, not discourage. He says they are only telling us what Jehovah wants from us, and that he isn't doing enough for Jehovah. It is distressing because he has such feelings of worthlessness, and these meetings just bring him further down. He will compare himself to brother so and so and say well if he can do it, what's wrong with me.
All I know is,when I was in the org,I had the same kinds of feelings. It wasn't until I was out that I started to like myself.Others didn't notice it, but I was very depressed when I was in. I am so happy that I am out now.
i woke up with my heart racing this morning.
i had an awful dream that i had gone home to visit my parents and that everybody in my former cong came bye to say hi.
in my dream, all the men had on suits and all the women had on floral dresses.
Ok Robyn,
Here's one of my freaky dreams from many years ago.I was about 7 when I had this dream.
We are driving in my moms blue van, the kind of van that has pictures of the ocean and mountains in the windows(can you tell it's the 70's?).We stop at the Kingdom Hall (although in my dream it's not a KH,but a store of some sorts), and my mom gets out and goes in,leaving me,my brother, and my sister alone. After a couple hours of waiting,my mom still hasn't come out.My older sister(10 at the time) decides she's going to drive us home.We yell at her not to because she is too young to know how to drive, but she decides to anyway. Almost as soon as we pull out of the parking lot,the van starts to swerve, and we smash into a guardrail. The van completely folds up like an accordian.and then........ a giant picks up the van and stats playing it like it is an accordian, and we are trapped inside falling all over the place!!! LOL
I have so many more, but that one always cracks me up!
it's weird that, 11 years after getting df'd,and 8 years after vowing to never go back, i still kind of felt guilty toasting my birthday with my friends.
i am a hell of a lot closer, though, to feeling no shame at all, and a lot of you are to be credited with my freedom......... .
brad
Happy Birthday Brad! You are exactly 1 month older than me!
I hope your B-day was a great one. I've still yet to celebrate my birthday openly. My last real birthday party was when I was 4, and I can't wait to have one again someday!

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who has freaky dreams!
how many here ever dated a "worldly" person, while still a jw?
I had a few worldly boyriends in school. Then ultimately, another witness kid would tell on me, and then it was off into my moms room to go over the "Young People Ask" articles in the AWAKE. UGH!!!
Funny thing is, my worldly boyfriends were so innocent. The only ones I ever fooled around with were the witness boys. Go figure.
