Another geek here. I read the Bible through - every word, even the genealogies - at least three times, besides doing a "comparison" of Ecclesiastes and Proverbs - similar proverbs/sayings highlighted in one colour, opposite sayings in another colour. I also read the Insight volumes cover to cover, which I didn't really mind. Now am reading Lao Tse. Later - who knows?

My Disfellowshipped Window Washer Is Going Back To Meetings Because Of The
by minimus inwar....he said bible prophecies are obviously being fulfilled and since war is imminent, it's time to get back into the "truth".
he went to his first meeting last sunday.
now, all he says he has to do is stop smoking, stop his pornography addiction, stop going out with prostitutes, start reading and researching more, and evidently, he has stopped engaging in homosexuality.

NeonMadman stole my thought !! My parents lived through WWII, my dad was a soldier in the Canadian Armed Forces and my mother worked in a munitions factory during the war. At the time neither were JWs, they didn't believe the world was coming to an end, they didn't go to church any more often than before but they did know they had a job to do before Hitler's horrid little world would end. Almost 60 years later (wow!) and the window-washer thinks Jehovah's using a war against Saddam as the prelude to the big A? Methinks this guy must be fairly young, and/or not a very good student of history.

I FOUND A JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by Jesika inwell, the search is finally over, i found a job.
i am working for a promotional advertising company, and they are hired by other companies like--crayola, harley davidson, bed bath and beyond, disney, etc to promote new products that will be coming out.
so, someone at my level in the company, goes to area businesses and shows them to people and they can buy them at about 80% off what the product will retail for when it hits the stores.

Hey there blackout! I'm in Canada, we're buried under 250 metres of snow (I exaggerate but only slightly) and am glad you're on board! I too am fading. I feel for your mother, isn't it horrible how the good, sensitive people always are made to feel that everything wrong in the borg is their fault? It's really quite sickening.
Anyhow, welcome. Hope to get to Australia one day.

Elders coming...i'm shaking in my boots...NOT! Any help?
by searchfothetruth ini had a phone call last night from one of the elders asking if they can come around.
when i asked him why he said it was to discuss whether i would be interested in having a study.. this is strange as i have been baptised since i was 14 and left about 4 years ago and have had little contact with any witnesses except my parents, but, the only thing that has changed over the last few weeks is that i put together a 50 page report documenting a range of subjects including the un involvment etc and give it to my mum.
then within a week the elders want to ask my to have a study!.

1 Thes 4:16 The Lord* descends with the call of the archangel.
The asterisk shows you a footnote that this lord is Jehovah. But this is the passage they use to prove that Jesus is Michael the Archangel.
Found in the interlinear, CD rom (not sure about the newest CD, they might have fixed this) But this footnote has been around in NWT, & WT since 1973. (so its not just a typo)
Always the questions should lead to them realize that their loyalty to the organization goes AGAINST God, Truth, and the Bible.
Man oh man! I never knew that! never clued in during all my years as a dub (Acsot slapping herself).
Great point!

So many lonely people
by JH inwith 6 quatrillion people on this planet why are there so many lonely people desperately searching for someone to love?
with cities crowded with people, why is it that finding someone to love would be so hard?
there are more and more single people as time passes.

Sweet Merciful God, I think that's the most depressing thing I've heard in a long time.
wasasister: that's hysterical! I've never been married, but had room-mates (read: pioneer partners) and many times it was hell on earth. Being alone does not equate with being lonely, although I'm not sure if I relish the idea of it for the rest of my life.
I do know, however, that it's hard to make a connection with people. Are we too busy in this urban, modern life of the 21st century? We connect through a computer easier than face-to-face (speaking personally ). I sometimes get tongue-tied in person (and I ain't no young chick!) but have an easier time writing my feelings down. How about dates where the couple just write to each other across the table?
Geez, I wish I had the answer.

Which Topics Do You Find Most Boring Or Uninteresting Here?
by minimus inwe all know which topics interest us the most, but which subjects bore you the most?
some here love all fluff.
some hate it.some might respond to only intellectual arguments while others may not have the foggiest of what is being debated.....so, what do you tend to skip, here?

When I first dismantled my JW beliefs, I was interested in the doctrinal stuff like Trinity (or not); identity of God, God's name, etc. Now I don't read those posts anymore, it's no longer relevant (for me) - if there is an omnipotent power, squabblings over 3 vs. 1, name vs. no-name, etc., ain't gonna make a whole lot of difference to him/it/she/them. Now I like reading posts of a "philosophical" bent, if you will, i.e. Introspection's, some of Francois' writings when he gets onto threads of that nature, etc. I enjoy AlanF's posts, Maverick's, Blondie's WT reviews, the ones that show the WT flip-flops, hypocrisy and such, those are real eye-openers.
I like some of the "fluffier" stuff such as "what are you reading", "what are your favourite movies", "favourite Broadway shows".
And minimus' questions of course!

maybe I am paranoid...
by Azalo indoes anyone know if there are spies who monitor these boards?
has anyone unintentionally "outed" themselves solely by posting on these boards?
i have been out for over 7 years now but my family is still in and i am afraid of giving too many details about myself for fear that someone will inform them.

Ah Mouthy! You're too much! What an evil apostate you are , housing, feeding and lending a listening ear to all those mean JWs! When I think of all those lies fed to us about apostates, I wonder how the members of the GB sleep at night? If they actually think what they're doing is right, they are so far away from Jesus' teachings I can't even comprehend it.

Comments You Will Not Hear at the 3-16-03 WT Study
by blondie incomments you will not hear at the 3-16-03 wt study

"have love among yourselves".

OUCH! That's how the WTS should react if they ever had the balls to read one of your reviews, particularly this one. Devastating logic, using their own words against them, and as many of us know all too well, your comments regarding the lack of love are right on the money! Putting numbers on pieces of paper constitutes "love" in Watchtower world.
Good job Blondie!!!

Watchtower statistics
by Realist inhas anyone actually added up the numbers in the wt statistics?.
look at http://www.watchtower.org/statistics/worldwide_report.htm.
if you add the numbers up you get actually 5,682,705 witnesses....not 6,117,666.

So, many of the peaks have double counting. For example, in Canada, the annual peak is usually in August. This is because people are on vacation in July, put in their report too late to be counted that month, then put in time in August again.
I never clued in to that ! Sheesh, so no one can really know how many "publishers" there are. So how would you work out how many baptized Witnesses there are? It's got to be a lot less than 6,000,000, doesn't it?
