  i have heard about this forum from someone, but i won't say who as i don't want to expose them.

  i am in the process of evaluating my life as a jw.

  it has been a pretty sad life - without a real feeling of 'belonging'.

  Welcome Terri!

  So many of us know what you're experiencing - not fitting in, not belonging; the truth of the matter is that the whole structure of the Society is made so that the average person feels as though they can't measure up, and therefore, not really belong to the group. Added to that problem is the fact that no one can come right out and talk about stuff like this to other JWs for fear of being seen as weak, rather than discerning, which is the reality of the matter. When you discern what's really going on, you can't help but feel as though you don't fit in. It's the beginning of opening yourself up to all the wonderful possibilities out there, and discovering for yourself who you really are and what you really wnt to believe in.

  It's scary but definitely worth the trip!

  two deaths and no calls...

  well, my disfellowshipped friend was seeking out an older, non-jw relative who he had wanted to invite to a monumental event in his life.

  he wasn't able to reach her at her home so he eventually gave up and sought out his jw parents.

  in doing so, he learned that the elderly relative had died a little less than a year earlier (a few months after he had been disfellowshipped).

  Please convey my condolences to your friend and tell him I send him hugs. Unfortunately, the despicable way these people act doesn't surprise me at all; I've seen too much of it happen. The coldness of the JW religion and the hearts of ice it produces are absolutely appalling, and if there is a God and if there was a man named Jesus 2,000 years ago, I'm sure they feel blasphemed by these sterile, frozen people who have the audacity to call themselves Jesus' true disciples.

  now it is a hard time for me.

  the announcement was made this last friday, and i have known that there was a lot of people crying after that meeting.

  my grammy had a nervous breakdown

  my fathers mother, my grammy...had a nervous breakdown recently.. she is a witness, although been inactive.

  well aparently, from what my witness mom says, she went to a funeral in a catholic church and the guilt was too much for her.

  and also "hanging around your aunt terry" - the disfellowshipped one.. so guys, now disfellowshipped people and catholic churches cause nervous breakdowns.. she couldn't even see that its this unbareable guilt that the publishing company force on the people that caused the nervous breakdown.

  I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. It's horrendous what that cult can make people go through, the guilt and self-recrimination - totally the opposite of what God (if he/she/it exists) teaches in the Bible (if you can believe in it at all).

  If only she could know that so many horrid apostates wonderful people on this board are thinking about her and feeling her pain.

  Years.

  Add to that guilt for having doubts.

  Then fataIism took over and I gave up and figured I'd rather just die at Armageddon than go along with the WT crap.

  Now I'm happy and free and going to die anyway but not that bothered about it! Amazing how when I thought I had a hope (resurrection) I was scared of dying. Now that I don't have that hope, I'm not afraid of dying.

  thanks to little toe's piquing my interest on this subject, i hafta ask it...... .

  has anyone here had any personal spiritual experiences and is anyone here brave enough to describe/relate any personal spiritual experiences they've had, whether pre-borg, during being borganized or post-borg?

  to be more specific, have you ever seen any angels or spirit creatures, been made aware of their presence in any way, interacted with or communicated with them, or had dream/visions...etc?

  Fitting In

  did anyone else have a hard time fitting in with non-witnesses when you left the witnesses?

  i never had a hard time fitting in with witnesses since i grew up as one, i was always popular in witness circles and could usually strike up an easy conversation with someone as long as i knew they were a witness.

  but i just can't find any common points of interest with anyone anymore since i've been disfellowshipped twice and then finally faded away a year and a half ago.

  Descender: I felt the same way you did, and I think it's because I had to find out first who I was before being able to share myself with other people. Eric made some good points; if I meet a person for the first time and they happen to be ex-Mennonite, I may want to hear a few things about their past but probably will want to move on to other topics, hobbies, travels, books, etc. so as to get to know the person better, as a person and not a former ______ (fill in the blank). Same with us, we are more than ex-JWs, and those are the parts people are most interested in. Afterwards, do as Eric mentioned, and you'll be able to share your dub experiences with people soon enough.

  Must have been a slow news day for the editor of that paper. It's so sad, thinking of those two gals, I was just like them - get rejected at the door and them feel (pathetically) happy to see nicely manicured lawns. Yeah, what a great way to spend your time.

  The reporter should have done a more objective job and interviewed others about the pedophile and shunning issues, as well as changing doctrines and the billions who will be bird feed at Armageddon.
