  UN scandal...again

  i popped round to my mothers the other day, not realising she had the book study at her house.

  luckily it had almost finished so i waited around.

  once finished the elder shook my hand and asked me what i was doing now.

  Agreed. I have two options when talking with dubs. First is the UN issue, and second is the creation/evolution book. I've studied that book in depth and can show any witness all the lies and misquotes. Both of these options will plant seeds of doubt without relying on apostate sites/literature

  I hope I kept my creation/evolution, I think I will do the same. Are the referenced works easily found in any public library? My time is rather limited but I can spare a few hours on the weekends to look stuff up.

  Orangefatcat: thanks for the link, I went to the Guardian website and pulled off the copy. I plan on using it!

  TELL US YOUR LACK OF LOVE STORIES FOR THE LURKERS.

  jesus said, "you will all know my followers by they're works".

  in a recent thread that i made, which lie hurt you the most, most posters presented they're arguments, and pretty much all of them said that the "lack of love" was horrendous.

  why don't you write out your lack of love stories so that the lurkers can visit and see what this destructive high-control-group (aka, cult) does to the emotional health of sheep who are sick and weak.

  I TOLD AN ELDERS WIFE OFF YESTERDAY!

  just to give you a bit of background: i was diagnosed with uterine cancer a couple of years ago and had to have a hysterectomy.

  naturally i got more support from all my worldly friends and co-workers than what i did from people at the hall, but am used to that by now.

  anyway, a few days ago, someone from the hall told me that sister x (one of the elders wives who is a nosey, back-stabbing bitch) had been saying things about me like "she shouldn't have had a hysterectomy because that's showing disrespect for the reproductive organs that jehovah gave us" and that i apparently was "lacking in faith" by not "leaving it in jehovah's hand" and didn't i read that article in the botchtower or asleep!

  My life ... and how JWD came to be - Part 1

  a few people have asked how jwd came about and what my own story is and while i've posted it in bits and bobs, i've never tried to tell it as a story so here goes .... living in suburbia.

  i was born a jw to jw parents who had recently been missionaries / pioneers in ireland and taken literature into countries like spain when it was banned but who were now living in suburbia near to where they had both been brought up.

  we lived in a new semi-detached house in a cul-de-sac at the bottom of a hill - fantastic for building go-carts and racing down !

  You're absolutely right about the rampant hypocrisy in the WTS (and elsewhere), it's quite sickening, and one of the things I could never quite fathom about God's supposed true organization.

  New to the site, but got me on a train of thought....

  i got ahold of the latest watchtower cd-rom (2001) from my grandmother, who is still an active jw.

  i've added below a few direct qoutes from various publications... in one instance below the watchtower says that the bginning of christ's thousand-year reign will begin in 1975 with noted exception in error of "weeks or months, not years" then in 1975 they say that "it does us no good to speculate" on the date his reign will start!

  because after his creation adam lived some time during the ?sixth day,?

  I was mostly thinking of my grandparent's who are on both sides of the family now in their seventies, they have spent so much time in the truth and have settled into a comfortable, casual routine in their retirements. so i argued to myself that from an ethical stand-point would it not be kind to leave them in peace with their beliefs? have they earned that right to be left alone at that age?... note that i haven't made any desicion either way... i'm still contemplating this one.... but i'd appreciate feedback, do you agree? disagree?

  What possible good would come of it if they did indeed open their eyes to the "truth", only to realize that they wasted their whole lives? It's too late for them to start over. At this point in their lives, they deserve peace. If they're comfortable and happy, why ruin it for them?

  As others have mentioned, the love you miss is totally conditional upon you conforming to every whim of the Watchtower Society. I think you know that. You also need to give yourself time to find out who you are, what you really want to do with your life, and start building up relationships outside the WTS. It's slow, but it's exhilarating!

  As for the guilt, do yourself a favor and read up on co-dependence issues. This is a huge problem in many, many families, not just depressive JWs. I know, since I come from a family with alcoholism problems. You need information right now, good, well-researched information on family dynamics and co-dependence. This will help you tremendously in learning about your mother's depression and how not to buy into it.

  None of the above is easy. It's up to you to decide if it's worth it. As most of the ones here can tell you, you are definitely worth it.

  i was concerned about helping my 25-year pioneer sister to see the true light, as it were.

  well, she's been visiting for about a week and a half, and i finally got to talk to her about a few things.... .

  Very good news! At the very least, your sister knows she has someone to talk to, who won't hand her over to the Watchtower secret police for having sincere, normal questions. Don't put too much on her, let her mull over this for awhile. The cognitive dissonance is bound to gnaw at her, and you can be there for her when she has to talk about it more.

  Another topic you might want to bring up is conscience matters...If the WT changes a stance on something and says it's a conscience matter according to the scriptures and the scriptures are thousands of years old was it not always a conscience matter and certainly not new light from Jehovah.

  Shotgun: that's a really good point, can I plagiarize it for future use?

  Dropped two bombs on jw mom....

  my jw mom sent me the same press release that was circulating on the board last week regarding a radical group who was trying to get religion and national borders abolished through the un.

  anyway, there was no commentary from her in the e-mail, which says to me that this is a "silent warning" to become a dub before i die in armageddon.

  I see your point, but if you're not baptized, your mom has no reason to "shun" you. Does your mom think that you have contact with other dubs who may have told you about the UN? Could you act all innocent as in "well, what's the big deal about the UN and f&&king hypocritical Witchtower society?" Oh I guess you couldn't say it that way.

  Too bad you don't know my self-righteous, blind "friend", then you could just pass the buck and say "well it was so-and-so who told me".

  Hmmm, maybe I'll do that ....
