Candace Conti - Preparing For The Appeal
by Joe Grundy inno doubt, wtbts ny will appeal this to the best of their ability, and they have almost unlimited financial resources behind them.. i wish i was in a position to fund candace through the appeal, but i'm not, nor i am cognisant with california law or the general fedaral law in us.. but i was a police officer in the uk for 30 years, 10 of that as a commander of a fraud squad, member of the national working group on fraud, europol, etc.
i did spend some time in the us working with fbi on a joint case.. my point is this.
i've read through some of the court papers including depositions and the one that stuck in my mind was the dep taken from the witness who worked in bethel and was asked about 'collated data' re child abusers.

This made me awfully sad
by corpusdei injust came across this post, where a disfellowshipped blogger posted the letter from his witness mother in which she cuts off the relationship between them.
although i was the one to slam the door and cut off communication with my viper of a mother, my heart goes out to this guy - it's to their shame that the witnesses allow their religion to do this to family..

'Mother thinks that shunning is the loving thing to do.'
Therefore shunning behaviour is compromised in the name of cult(or whatever). I agree NOT!
It was easiler to shun non-family members for me. It was Mainly because we hardly run into each other except at the kingdom Hall. I did shunned disfellowshipped witness at the KH by not carrying out any conversation with them but greeted them if I ran into them at the parking lot, at the door of the KH. 'Hi' 'Good to see you' 'keep it up' etc and at least smiled at them. I never took that as violation of shunning rule. That was encourgement! Nothing wrong to encourage your fellow human IMO, let alone your former friends.
As far as concerning disfellowshipped family members, we(my imediate family and I) never shunned them. We limited our association publickly but privately. We took in our DF'ed grown child once. He had no where to go. He just showed up one late night. He was in need and we made ourselves availble to him (I would have done it for anyone). For the consequences, the elders took Book Study out of our house and we were refrain from certain privilliage. So what? Our own advancement or whatever you call it, was last thing in our mind. We did what was right.
For mother to shun her own son and writing a such letter in believing it as a proof of demonstrating love, at a time when he needs her more than ever?
I am sorry it's beyond my area. I am not buying it. There's nothing will convince me for a such behavior. You can blame on cult and policing yourself at all times including activetly shunning your own flash, but then why don't you policing what you do to yourself and don't follow the rules for 100% of the times.
Have you ever drank overly as a loyal witness? Engage in oral sex? Engage in clique among your fellower believers? Did you ignore needy elderly? Have you ever saved unnecessary seats at the convention disregarding others need?...................
Who of us completely innocent in following any of these rules? Some of which DFing offense. Did you go talk to your elders out of love for your own salvation? Why are we so generous and excusable to ourselves(using imperfection excuse) and yet all of sudden, act like 100% rule follower when it comes applying rules to others including your own flesh?
My sister-in-law is shunning her brother. Her brother never treated her differently while she was disfellowshipped for all those years. Why different? Is she more spiritural? She is not even regular in her meeting attandance. Her brother was an elder, one highly respected by R&F, during entire time she was DF'ed. My SIN is living in morbid fear of elders and suffering with paranoia for sometimes and lacking a sense of Justice.
Encouraging your children to shun your df'ed ex is another thing I am furious. It's all out of selfishness. You only think about your own vendetta or agenda. You have no your children's best interest what so ever. You have no right to take their other parent away from them. (sorry for rant.)

slimboyfat, of course you can say kingdumb hells, washtowel and slave buggery, kingdom maladies, field circus, Rudefraud, Crooklin, borg, JW, WTS, DF, JC, etc, etc....after first appropriately mentioning 'the Watchtower,' 'Jehovah's Witness(es),' and their full terms. We are not giving up our fun by any means!
freetosee, thx back.
Diest, no doubt your above comment will show up on google search under 'Governing Body,' 'Jehovah's Witnessess,' 'Watchtower,' and 'Apostate.'
If type, 'Jehovah's Witness' in Google search you will see what I am talking about. It's all happening because of YOU and YOUR Contributions to ex-Jehovah's Witnesses sites.
Google 'Watchtower Scandal' for another example.

Did anyone else get somewhat offended by the term "rank and file" that the WT attorney used.
by life is to short ini was just surprised by that term being used by jim mccabe when he said "jonathan kendrick was not a leader or a pastor, he was just a rank-and-file member.".
i thought that was only an apostate term and also what a put down to us lowly members.
we are just a rank-and-file person.

What I drew out from Rank & File comment was that the Watchtower leaders, including Mr. McCabe are very familiar with JWN term. Which can mean,
1. They are regular lurkers, or/and
2. Mr. McCabe or/and some of them have account(s) here on JWN. (I wonder who they can be?!)

No, I am not asking you to sign the petition!
The poster, Blindersoff1 commented following on one of the threads:
Please try to use search friendly terms in your comments. Such as
Jehovah's Witness instead of JW,
Governing Body vs GB
Watchtower vs WT
and I can think of a few more,
the Borg vs the Watchtower (Org).
the WTS or the WTBTS vs the Watchtower or Jehovah's Witness.
DF or DS vs disfellowship or disassociation.
These webpages will live forever on the web. What we do now will effect web searches for a long time. This goes for JWN topic titles also.(especially!). Also links back to this forum will increase our exposure and web ranking. Think about it! What would public including current and ex-JWs(abbreviation is used if the same term is used more than once in the sentance, for example) type in search engine? It will be either 'Jehovah's Witness(es)' or 'Watchtower.' Especially since we are getting more publicity than ever with the latest Candace Conti's case!
It can be pain in the bottom but shouldn't we endeavor to do it as much as we can? Just suggestion!
(blinderoff1, thank you for the suggestion. Sorry in advance for posting your suggestion without your permission)

Razziel brought an interesting point on page 3.
That reminded me of the case in local KH. The elders, directed by the Legal Department, forced to make the report the child sexual abuse to the authority some months later because of the role they played in the crime. How did they do it?
' Anonymously as a friend of father of the child'
When family checked this with authority a few days later, authority told the family that they do not take anonymouse report that's with very limited information. So the authority dismissed it.
That's how the Watchtower and their elders handle the child sexual abuse case. They technically did reported it. It's all about theocratic warfare. Never ever ever in your wildest dream believe the Watchtower has your interest by any means! Their deviousness is mind-boggling.
I am truely sorry for those who you were victimized by the predator and re-victimized by the Watchtower. You wouldn't have any idea what it is like unless you have first-hand experience.
Why the Watchtower responsible for the crime of their members? Because the Watchtower provides safe-haven for the predator and make the crime bad to worse for the victim with their protecting themselves only policy.
edit: for victims, always double check and follow up your local elders claims. I can't emphasize it enough!
