Lost my best friend (man's best friend)
by Coffee House Girl injust wanted to write a tribute to my best friend whom i lost last week, it was one of the most painful experiences i have ever been through.
i have no children, my puppy was my child.
i got him from a golden retriever rescue organization when he was 2. he was recovering from a car accident, still a bit skiddish, but he chose me to take him home (the foster mom said that he never responded to anyone like he did me).. he was always happy to see me, greet me with a toy in his mouth, he never judged me, never cared whether i was "bad association", he was always there when i needed to smile and remembe that i was not alone in the world.

I am so sorry. I am sobbing. I am so happy that you had each other.
I have 2 dogs. I don't know what I do without them. I rescued them from the shelter. They rescued me from the Watchtower brutallty.

Ditto to Giordano. Besides, he may not believe in the Military. We should respect others' philosophy.
Befree, I can agree you more with your determation for higer education.
Now that I realize your dad is stepdad to you, hummmmm.............. I hope he has your best interest. My children were raised by step-father. I admit, as much as wonderful step-father, better than real dad in many way, he was to my children, he was less tolerant and more strict with my children than his own. I did not always stood up for my children but gave in to his headship decision.(I feel I was treated as a second citizen then. I was finally respected and appreciated once I put my food down and stood up for myself and my children). I wish I can talk to your mother. Can you talk to your mother about it?
Even though your step-dad is the head of house in Jehovah's Witnesses land, your mother need to understand it is her(unless your step-dad adopted you) that has the last saying on you. When I called the Service Department a few ago on the issue regarding my child, they ignored my husband in the conversation since he was a step-dad. I was told I am responsible for my children not their step-dad. Either way, it doesn't matter what they think, your mother has your best interest than any of them. You need to help her to realize that. Your mother should tell her husband, "it's nice to known your opinion but no thanks. it's my son and this is what I want."
I am glad you feel better. Thanks for keeping us updated.
Edit: As a side note, my eldest is graduating with Master Degree in Psychology at age 22. She is considering joining the Airforce upon her graduation in seeking PHD. Her tuition, housing, salary will be paid by the Militay while taking schooling. Can't beat that)

Joyfulfader, Welcome and Sorry you are suffering with PTSD. What traumatic experiences so many of us had gone through by the Watchtower Organization! You are safe here. Make yourself home and stay as long as you would like to. This is a good place to learning in taking your power back and you can be yourself without dread of being punished.
I've been on the forum for about 5 months and it has been the best therapy for me. It's so nice to be freed and living a real life again. No more fear, guilt, PTSD, ... Congrets on your jorney to renew life!

Has anyone heard of "Secret Disfellowshipping" by Jehovah's Witnesses? Menlo Park Ca. Congregation. Update.
by Balaamsass inno doubt everyone has been following the juan viejo postings regarding the watchtower kingdom hall "grab" on jwn for the last couple of years.
called the mrs and me to say "wow- you have to google this" we did...came here to jwn ...became members..and the rest is history.. in the last nine months i have been calling and emailing contacts in the silicon valley for verification on the societies theft and forced sale of the menlo park kingdom hall (near the new facebook heaquarters) because the story seemed...a little far fetched.
every reliable contact i made has confirmed what juan reported.

"Secret Marking and Secret Disfellowshipping"
What I have learned from my personal experience, Watchtower and its elders have the same mindset that of North Korean Dear Leader, Kim Jung Eun has. The Absolute Power with zero tolerance!
Until this very moment I have no idea what I got disfellowshipped for. I am not kidding. I was marked at least 3 times by 3 different local congregations in 2 years prior to my DF'ing. I have no idea what I got marked for each time. Can the neighbor congregation mark the publishers who's attending another kingdom Hall?(have you ever heard such?) Of course they can. They can do whatever as they go about their business. They can charge you with anything as they saw it fits into their agenda. The Watchtower is a malicious slanderer, a shamless blackmailer and a 3rd degree reputation assassin.
I've been following Menlo Park case and feel sorry for those former elders. I was/am in their shoes. My unsolicited advise for them in order to avoid much more sorrow is not to bother getting reinstated. They will not be reinstated at least for many many years. Collect as much evidences and witnesses on Watchtower and a Circuit Overseer to seek the civil justice and expose the Watchtower. Contact Mr.Zalkin(zalkin.com) or any lawyer who specializing in religious abuse.

I feel for you. I still attend the meetings for different reason. I don't think I can do this much longer. It effects my health. The Kingdom Hall is so toxic.
Plan rationally. Tackfully approach to your parents and may ask: "Mom and Dad, you know I've thinking, in order to better equip to support myself while reaching out for full time pioneering, I need to have better job. I would like to take job training(Watchtower stance on this and up to 2 year college schooling are acceptable) or attend a trade school or look into job corp. I need your help." You can find the school that is out of town that offers a dorm. You can do this with or without your parents' support. Approach to your parents about the plan to see their response. Plan accordingly. It will be easiler for you with their support but...... Joining the military is another option.
Where do you live? We have an extra room. We have a job corp and colleges near by our home. I want you to know you have an option. Cheer up!

Splash, we used the same referance of 93 Awake artical to a Judicial Commettee who charged an innocent rape victim child of fornication. The JC closed their ears and did even bother to take look at the artical.

OP, I have the original magazine but it's in another language. I have recently learned about this too. My husband insisted his bound volume was the original until was shown from my original magazine. Even though it wasn't in English but numeric 20 Century was clearly printed to be read. He was stunned!

I loved it so much that it wasn't unusual for others to see me out service 7 days a week. I even had dream of going out door to door while on vacation. I was a #1 koolaid drinker.

JW hate group
by Wayward Son inaccording to wikipedias definition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/hate_group), a hate group is an organized group or movement whose primary purpose is to promote animosity, hatred, hostility or violence toward members of a race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc.... the southern poverty law center explains that inclusion of a group in the list does not imply a group advocates or engages in violence or other criminal activity.. under the category of religious hate groups, westboro baptist church was cited for promoting hatred toward homosexuals.
creativity movement and aryan nation were mentioned as promoting racial hatred.. is it a stretch to categorize the watchtowers rhetoric toward apostates as that of a hate group?
keeping in mind that promoting or engaging in violence is not required to be identified as a hate group, does the constant degradation of other religious philosophies, organizations and adherents constitute hate speech?

Thank you for the suggestion, Nambo! I have already tried all other options but nothing worked.
Back to JW hate group.
Wayward Son, You have actually brought out an interesting point that is common to hate groups. For example, there are two different options were offered in the Bible in handling wayward son/daughter. Stoning(Old Test.) vs Father of prodigal son(New Test.). Jehovah's Witnesses prefer a harsher stoning policy(strict shunning) instead of a merciful policy of father of prodigal son. This never even came across to my mind as a hard core witness. I even used to said that to my teenage children how they should have been stoned if we were in ancient Israel. Now that I no longer think like JW, I can hardly believe I actually said and thought such thing toward anyone, let alone my own children. How unmerciful and hateful that is!
