Gong xi fa cai - Congratulations and Prosperity (for the New Year)

its chinese new year time!.

all around the world, chinese people and their friends will celebrate this event starting this year on february 8 and ending on the 24th.

and, in the traditional concept, the coming year will be the year of the (water) snake.. if you have chinese friends, you can greet them with the words "gong xi fa cai" ( pinyin transliteration) a traditional chinese greeting.

I was born in the Year of the Snake. The year of birth is a big deal in Korea and China. It determins what and who you will be and serves as the factor of your behavior. Thanks for bring back the long forgotten memory of my home country tradition.

San Francisco or Bay Area Members?

i did a search and came up with some posts related to san francisco, but i couldn't figure out how to find more recent onesthey were from nearly a dozen years ago!

i was wondering if anyone lives around sf, as well as if anyone is around my age?

i'm early 30's.

About a year ago I found JWN but was frankly put off by it. The threads I had read were either just mean people who seemed bitter and angry, or there was a lot of bashing of a certain religion.

fun times.. a year and a month have passed since i moved in to the house where my cousin deb and her husband bobby live.. i had a small but comfortable room, tv, etc.. a nice cozy family situation, you might say....right?.

i pay $600 a month to defray expenses.. hunky dory.. sure.

until the first few eruptions!.
