I don't know what an indulgence is. All my life whenever someone dies all my Catholic relatives send Mass cards. It's a card you buy and it goes to a convent or a church somewhere where the name of the deceased is put on a prayer list, on the assumption that if you pay enough people to pray hard enough, the deceased's time in purgatory will be lessened and they can then shoot on up to heaven.

The fact that, as a baptized Christian, I am not welcome to accept communion. Well, if you openly maintain that youre not a catholic, well?

Thing is, I consider myself a Christian. Catholics are welcome to accept communion in my church, but we are not allowed to accept it in a Catholic church because we are not considered 'real Christians' because we don't belong to the "one true church." Yet another example of one religion claiming to be the ONLY one. Where have I heard that one before??

Also, what's up with the Mass and all the Confessions?

Thank you, I forgot that one! Yeah, I can't stomach that I must be forgiven for my sins by a human being before God will consider my salvation.

Like I said, I don't hate Catholics. I just feel they're being manipulated by a man-made organization, and I have some basic problems with that! I feel the same way about ANY religion that does this, I'm not singling out Catholics, (although this is a Bash the Catholics thread, LOL).

reading one of the other threads got me thinking.

what is the root of anti-catholic sentiment.

i was raised a catholic, still catholic, and have never heard a good reason why some people dislike catholicism.

I'm an Episcopalian, which is as close to Catholic you can get without being Catholic.

What I don't like:

1. INFALLIBILITY of the Pope. Excuse me, can anyone say GOVERNING BODY? (Oops, didn't mean to shout. Then again, maybe I did?)

2. Worship of Mary. Biblical basis???

3. The fact that they believe that the bread and wine served at Communion ACTUALLY BECOMES the flesh and blood of Christ instead of symbolizing it. Ewww.

4. The Inquisition (except for Mel Brooks version in History of the World Part 1, LOL)

5. The Crusades, and burning people at the stake

6. The fact that, as a baptized Christian, I am not welcome to accept communion in a Catholic church because I am not Catholic. Remember the flap when Baptist Bill Clinton took communion, right after the Monica thing exploded? That priest took Holy Hell for that, giving a non-Catholic the bread and wine. Hoo boy! Can anyone say "EMBLEMS??" [ducking for cover and LMAO]

11. Mass cards. Like I'm gonna help save John Gotti's (or anyone else's) soul if I purchase a Mass card.

I don't hate Catholics, some of my best relatives are Catholic, I just know I could never be one. *Shudder*

Is Jehovah taking aim at the apostates?

when i was a witness, we would sometimes get people who were disfellowshiped or disassociated that protested the assemblies or kingdom hall.

perhaps there are a few who have done this on this board.

i remember a few comments made by people in the congregation when they saw these people.

I think there is something inherently evil in wishing harm on another. I see the practice of hoping someone suffers because you do not agree with them, as a hateful comment.

I wholeheartedly agree. That is certainly evil. But you have to remember, these brainwashed dubs don't see it that way. The concept that they wish suffering on you because you don't agree with them is foreign. They see it that you are against their GOD Jehovah, and his organization. You are touching God's eye. That makes you evil and bad. They've been mind-controlled into this mode of thinking.

So sad. So very sad.

My church's policy on reporting abuse.

yesterday every body that volunteers in the nursery got a pamphlet on various policies that apply to us.

this is the complete text of the section on reporting abuse.. .

if a volunteer suspects a child has been physically, emotionally, or sexually abused or neglected, occ staff must be notified immediately.

Blessings from Jehoovah - BAH!

i had so many fine blessings as a dub that after pondering on them...i am starting to wonder why i left.. some of my blessings were having the bookstudy in our home, oh what a fine blessing....i didnt have to go out on a cold night and i could save 20 minutes in travelling time....woohoo!!

making the unleven bread for the memorial, cool, i got to have the left overs *blech*.

also, working with the cos wife out on field service...yeah that was awesome, i got to pretend i was spiritual and i could talk crap all morning about the co's use of illustrations *choke*.

I got to stick out like a sore thumb at school assemblies, to wit: "You may stand for the national anthem IF you already WERE standing after the flag salute. However, if you've already been seated and the assembly rises for a national song, you must REMAIN seated." How do you spell h-u-m-i-l-i-a-t-i-n-g???

How about going out in service on Halloween? May God bless forever the one woman who gave me candy. I'll never forget her.

Getting bitten by a dog while pounding on doors peddling magazines is another highlight of my childhood. What a privilege! Thank you Jehovah!

AND being the only person in your office that didn't give blood, thereby ruining everyone else's chances of having 100% participation. OMG THANK YOU LORD!!!

i'm new here and this is the first post i make (i promise that more will come).

i have been following most of the posts made here quietly for about 4 months and i would like to thank all of you who are called apostates for the well documented and researched material you have presented here.thanks to you i know now the truth about the wt organization and i'm no longer blind and misled.

i disassociated myself about 2 months ago after 15 years of very "faithful" service to the society.i was regular pioneer for 12 years and an elder for 8 years, i served mainly as the service overeer.my experience was published in the 2 of the society's magazins.. as i was a very zealous and prominent elder in my circuit i zealously promoted the organizational rules and i allowed myself to be fully used by the society to promote those mind controle techniques that now i know hurt those who were my sheep.

First thing you do when you really get OUT (as opposed to leaving physically but still believing) is say to yourself, "HOW was I ever so deceived? How COULD I have believe all that crap??"

Well, we did and we could. The WTS is very effective at brainwashing and mind control.
