For any interested, there is a good analysis of the WT study for 1/18/2015 here. Paragraph 18 makes a curious flip-flop from w04 12/1 p. 21 par. 15.

antony morris iii told the audience of a meeting last week that's the society's stance about wearing glasses has changed.
from now on the gb does not approve wearing glasses because it gives others the wrong idea of being educated.
parents have to ignore their children's wish of learning to read.
The khmer rouge (see the 5th paragraph under the subtitle "Life Under the Khmer Rouge") would be smiling approvingly.

i wanted to share an experience i had and see if anyone else had encountered this same matter.
we always tried to make an extra effort to ensure we stood on the approved hotel lists when going to our special day conventions or district conventions or what they now call regional.
we use to stay many nights a year and i would save up my hotel points to use at a later time.. i remember checking in at popular chain hotel and asked the hotel clerk how many points would i earn for the 3 night stay?
I've heard similar from the grapevine. For some years we started to stay at a hotel on the list but used a different discount ( such as ChoiceHotels) rather than the Watchtower discount - and usually got a better rate. At one place it was $12.00 USD a night better.
The last few years I just make reservations where I want. Watching the friends gather around the list on the board looked more and more like cattle gathering together around a lump of straw thrown from a pickup truck.

I made a couple of posts on this thread in reference to the "Christ Jesus" vs "Jesus Christ" difference in the and and new NWT that may be of some use to you.

i've made some updates to the user section of the site.
besides some cosmetic tweaks the most notable new feature is the ability to see a listing of the topics someone has posted on - this includes topics they started as well as topics they replied to.. it will look like this when you go to a user page or your own profile page:.
simon.
Simon, great job you are doing. The board is really shaping up.

the lost consolation resurrected.. .. every issue of consolation magazine has now been saved in the archives.
the links below will take you to the correct download area.
you must see the letter s before the word consolation or you will not have the right download link.
the new forum originally had a little country flag next to each post showing the country that the post was made from based on the geoip encoding (the country the ip address is from).
before i switched over to the new site someone made an issue about it violating their privacy and i didn't want to complicate and confuse the switchover with policy debate at the same time as technical issues so removed the flags even though i disagreed.. someone has already requested it as a feature and i think it should be added back so i thought it's now time to open the discussion and get everyone's opinions.
first, the reason i think it should be shown:.
Thank you very much QC!

Simon:
Just curious, will (or is) there be a way to look at one's own posts or one's own threads started as there was in the previous board?
Without that ability "marking" a post would be of no use. Also there would be no effective way to quickly go back to your own posts where you might have raised a question that you were looking for answers to. That was a handy feature of the previous board. Of course, there may be reasons for not including it.

my wife said to me me that she'd really like to see a survey carried out on the internet, where active/attending witnesses only, could anonymously reveal that they privately celebrate the memorial and partake of the emblems.. what sort of figures would such a survey throw up?.
any chance of someone organising such a survey during the "memorial season"?.
Searcher,
It would be very interesting to know this. And it would probably have to be anonymous due to the fact that the Society would organize a witch hunt for anyone having meetings not organized under their oversight.
Unfortunately, the anonymity of the poll itself would negate its results.
The AnointedJW site sometimes publishes anecdotal evidence of large numbers who do this. Exactly how large? -who knows - but I notice that the Society NEVER mentions such things happening - a sure sign that it is happening to some degree. They just don't want to give anyone who hasn't thought of it the idea.
Similarly, they sometimes speak of some partaking because of 'earthly problems,' past religious beliefs, and 'mental unbalance.' But they NEVER mention that some partake because of believing that all Christians should - even though they know that some are doing this. They just don't want to give the idea out to others who haven't figured this out for themselves.

just a few instructions orders from mother about motels.. please use only hotels that appear on the recommended lodging list.
(one page, with only one motel locally).
one nights deposit (credit card, money order, etc.,) is required, and should be sent to the hotel within ten days of making your reservation.
To add insult to injury, the list is posted on the board and you are instructed not to make copies or take photos of the list. The group of people ganged up around the list after the meeting reminds me of cows gathering around a bale of hay that has been tossed to them from a truck.
use only hotels that appear on the Recommended Lodging List
Wouldn't this be a sort of oxymoron?
