Interesting. The old NWT has the more literal rendering. The new one is more interpretive.

i could not find mention of this before.
i was reading genesis 8:22 in the niv and was surprised i had never noticed that this verse gives the impression that the earth will not remain forever.
genesis 8:22 stated by god after the flood, when promising to never again destroy all living creatures.. as long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.
Interesting. The old NWT has the more literal rendering. The new one is more interpretive.

i wold love to see all the worlds leader proclaim "peace and security" soon, loud and clear.
that wold make all jws go totaly nuts.
they would all run around and yell "now it's coming, now it's coming!".
some participants in this forum often bring up their criticisms of bible versions of not sticking to the original scriptures.
a few individuals have claimed that a word-for-word translation is absolutely necessary.
the answer is not that simple.
Thanks Wonderment and Vidqun for your posts.
I'm with you Vidqun. I prefer the FE with footnotes for study purposes. They are, in a way, like a lower level programming language. More work is needed, but the end results can be much better. (Assuming, of course, that one is willing to put in the extra effort.)
At the same time, I can see the usefulness of one translated more loosely. My wife and I used to read just the Bible together. We would take turns. She would read and follow from the NWT (the old one) and I would do the same, but with the NIV.
Always, she would have to ask me how the NIV was worded on various verses. In other words, the NIV would tend to always explain a difficult passage in the NWT. But I never noticed the other way around. The NWT was usually too literal (some would say "wooden.") Still, I liked the fact that long-forgotten idioms were carried over in the NWT. It sometimes required going to commentaries to get the sense, but over the long haul the extra study was worth it (to me, anyways).

the old nwt contained a byline that indicated westcott and hort was used in the translation of this bible.
(they are not mentioned in the 2013 release) but you and i both know that their wordings in scripture remain in the new release.. if you check their background, you will find some serious issues with these translators which the society used.
has anyone googled wh for their spiritual qualifications to include them in the nwt??
some time ago, i wrote an extensive article on shunning and published it on my website.
since that website had views on doctrinal matters that no longer reflect my current stand, i took the website down.
however, my views on this matter are still current, and for the benefit of everyone here, i'm going to post the article here.

it seems unbelievable but turkey (a nato member state) shooting down a russian jet fighter on their syrian border seems to be "meh" news and no one is too bothered about it too much.. the world seems a bit upside down right now.
i don't think a lot of countries really know who the hell they are fighting and who is and isn't on their side in it all and really what is going on.. smaller incidents than this have led to major conflicts in the past but hopefully calm heads will prevail.
china shot down a us spy plane years ago and the world survived and forgot about it so things will move on i'm sure.. i'm guessing the price turkey pays for their gas supply from russia will be going up soon though.. man, that republican primary is sucking all the news attention from the room.
Russia is saying they are moving S-400 sams to their base in Syria (for some info, here). They will then be in a position to have Assad announce that Syria is no longer allowing uninvited foreign aircraft into their airspace. And they will have the means to enforce it. American ability/resolve will then come into question a bit more, pushing America to make their obligatory tit-for-tat.
All the logic about why they wouldn't engage each other (east vs west) is good, but sometimes events take a course that neither side intended. I see them moving in a way that reminds me of how WWI got started. I wonder if ISIS might not like the idea of propagating an east-west war as a means further their own caliphate.

absolutely disgusting!.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqzc2m8_mba.
Now this is the sort of downloaded content they should be showing householders, especially female ones. It would help people get a more accurate view of the WT.
Saintbertholdt, make sure you count this video on your new fs report! (In fact, count a video showing for everyone who visits this thread after your post. We do want to have an accurate record!)

i saw this on ex jw reddit:"this may not be news to you but it was to me.
forgive me if this has already been posted before.
it came from a reliable source working on the warwick project.. wallkill bethel had broken ground and laid the foundation for a new recreation building.
Depending on the type of foundation, they should be able to clean the dirt off it and use it in the future.
That's what Saddam thought he would do with his MiG-25s :)

IL:
I don't have any more info to add, so I'm also waiting to hear if anyone else does.
Having said that, the story, if true, gives me the sense that they see a rather intense financial difficulty looming for them.

1914the turning point in history.
30 from the human standpoint, the world troubles and global wars foretold in the bible were far from the thinking of the pre-1914 world.
german statesman konrad adenauer said: thoughts and pictures come to my mind, .

I started a thread (here) with almost the identical name back in February 2015 ... no wait, 2014 (my, how time flies!).
It was based on a comparison of the idea of 1914 being the ultimate turning point in history (per the WT) versus what Paul said in Acts 17:30, 31.
