Hooray for Apostasy against blunders and nincompoopery!
by Terry inif you change religions by changing your mind and by moving on to something "better" then technically you are apostate.
consequently, unless you are born a jw you have to abandon another religion to become a jw.
so, being an apostate is a good thing if you abandon some other religion, but, if you abandon the jw's you are bad.

AAWA - eh?
by shazbat inso apologies if this is recycling some old debates, but i've just taken a quirk squint at the whole aawa affair.. stupidity which outed people by accident, most likely really.
but aawa idioms on the new site are straight out of a jw writing dept.
they're prolly just made up of indoctrinated ex-jws talking to other indoctrinated ex-jws, but really i couldn't think of a better false flag offensive than what aawa seems to have become.. jw media dept must be loving this shower of incompetence and desperate re-branding, that or there is a small chance it's a part of their own media plan?.

AAWA is well. I personally am pleasantly surprised by the support of some great members of the ExJW community.
Like most ExJW initiatives, it will always have supporters and detractors.
At least we are free to choose.

I don't get it ... 80% of people in Oklahoma DON'T have a Tornado Shelter. Are they nuts ????
by RubaDub ini really don't understand.
how can any homeowner in his right mind, not have a tornado shelter ???
i understand that some people live in apartments and condos, but someone with any size yard (even a driveway) could have a shelter.. to me it's a no-brainer.

Some reports I've read talk about many one man shelters bored into garage slabs. They have sliding locking lids.

Question for some of the other gay posters
by littlerockguy inhave you guys seen the meme on facebook going around about "tim tebow vs jason collins" comparing tebow "bashed for professing christ" and collins "praised for homosexuality" and then at the bottom the scripture isaiah 50:20: woe to those who call evil good and good evil?
i have had a couple friends of mine post that on their wall and it showed up on my wall.
i don't care what they believe however it just bothers me that they didn't think that i would find it offensive.

I have not seen it. Sounds like it is blatant anti gay pro fundie propaganda.
Facebook has extreme hate speech policies in place that are easily accessed.
Isn't Tim Tebow a professed virgin?

Oklahoma is part of a geographical region characterized by conservative and Evangelical Christianity known as the "Bible Belt".
According to the Pew Research Center, the majority of Oklahoma's religious adherents – 85 percent – are Christian, accounting for about 80 percent of the population. The percentage of Oklahomans affiliated with Catholicism is half of the national average, while the percentage affiliated with Evangelical Protestantism is more than twice the national average

I could blast and clear a 6 cubic foot hole in granite in 8 hours. Tie in and poor concrete casings and add a storm door in another 8 hours.
Couldn't solve the drowning problem but people have survived trapped in cisterns for many days.
One couple explained that they survived this OK tornado in such a shelter even when the substantial storm door was ripped open.
I don't know. There has to be other reasons for a lack of shelters besides poverty, bedrock and statistics.

This is the process. A Watchtower apologist feels strongly enough about the need to defend his beliefs to go directly against the directive from his leaders not to engage with "apostates"
Eventually he runs out of concrete arguments and his cognitive dissonance becomes exposed.
He goes through shock, grieving and sometimes setbacks of denial but the outcome is always the same.
Eventually they leave or fade away from the JWs. They go on with other pursuits in life of a discovery process.
Some keep to themselves. Over time, sometimes many years, they feel compelled to reach out to awaken others.
They find themselves in the ironic position of dissecting the Watchtower many times just as adept or even more skilled than the way the defended the Watchtower.
Each one of these vocal apologists represent a valuable possibility that will in just a matter of time begin peeling the layers of Watchtower failing back one by one.

There are also believers that feel God doesn't care or has checked out. Like a boy neglecting his ant farm.
If my comments are being taken personally for or against ones belief system, that is not my intent. I am merely stating what I observe in an effort to clarify the issues that are being discussed.
As humans, it seems natural that we look for comfort. Everyone has their way of finding that comfort.
There is nothing wrong with that except when the expressions of someone's comfort causes pain for someone else.
That is the human condition.

Atheists don't blame God.
Atheists ask believers to examine the logic in their belief.
Specifically in this case, why does God allow this suffering for some and salvation for others?
The atheist answers, "because he does not exist."
The believer answers, "because we can't know God's ways"
