reasons, not excuses -- even valid ones (like, "i was ignorant, depressed, fooled").. yours in the sense that you can still own (to) them -- even though you now know the "answer" was wrong.. this obviously applies to those who became jws -- hence mostly not born-in, although some of the latter might admit to having chosen the jw way for themselves at a certain stage of their childhood or teenage years.. this question is triggered by a previous conversation with purplesofa on another thread:.
i think most of us that came in and not born in were searching.
our hearts were pure in our search.
I concur with Sir and Fleshly- I would assume it's this way for most "raised in the truth" kids.
Q
ok growing up jw, i was clueless about how 'the world' worked.
i had some weird ideas that took a long time to dispell.
one that i got fairly quickly, and embarassingly was when at school, after easter vacation (still was that, then!
That the "End" would surely come before I graduated grammar school, then before I graduated High School, then before I was 30 and most assuredly before the year 2000! How naive can one be?
well folks, ever since the end of 1999, when the issue of child abuse among jws was raised, things seemed to have moved slowly ... at least too slowly for those who need and want to see justice done for the vctims.
in 2000, bill bowen, who was teaming up with those of us already working on the topic, finally emerged in public to start silentlambs, and brought in nbc dateline, etc.
for much welcome attention.
Amen Jim!!

Q
lets put it at 3 meetings a week.. my record is about 12 meetings in a row without missing.. normally, i'd miss 1 meeting per 2 weeks, in my best days..
Uninformed:
I know of someone who gave the public talk for his congregation the sunday after his saturday wedding, the meeting time was 9:30am!! I think that takes the cake of "stupider"! This was in the early 90's.

Unfortuneatly, too many to count!
Q
: the special assembly day, the two-day circuit assembly, and the three- or four-day district convention.
q9) how can we show our respect for sacred gatherings by our dress and behavior?.
- how can children show that they respect the sacred nature of our meetings?.
Doubting Bro-
Same atmosphere at our meeting today. Very lack lustre comments and interestingly, on paragraph 17 there was only one comment and it didn't even mention the 'no missing meetings for work, homework, etc... the conductor (my dad) skipped over it as well and just proceeded to the box. The meeting ended 10 minutes early today, thank God for small favors.

often, after having left the organization a person experiences.
a host of negative emotions regarding their life in the watch-.
I can't wait to be able to post a reply to this question! Soon, very soon.
Q
with the upcoming study of the old-new revelation book i thought it would be good to expand an article i had done on the watchtower's ability to understand bible prophecy.
it appears at http://jwfacts.com/index_files/revelation.htm i can not understand how anyone that knows of the number of changes the watchtower has made can believe jehovah's holy spirit directs the watchtower.
particularly interesting is the changes that have been made to the understanding of the 1260, 1290, 1335, 2300 and 2520 days that appears towards the end of this article.the current explanation of these are an embarrasment.
I really cannot believe the GB decided to expose, through a systematic study, throughout the next year and a half, all of those most embarrasing written "truths"!! I believe this will be real eye opener for many who are still on the fence about the validity of this organization as the "channel" God uses to communicate to mankind.
