Stop, run and and don't look back!!! All you need to live a good life is to follow Jesus' words in the Sermon on the Mount, Matt.5,6,&7.

i'd say, beware, once you'll be baptized they won't treat you the same way.
they will expect a lot from you, and you'll never be free again to say what you think about the religon or even think for yourself.
they will control your life completely.
Stop, run and and don't look back!!! All you need to live a good life is to follow Jesus' words in the Sermon on the Mount, Matt.5,6,&7.

I hope Barbara gives us the official status of her case soon. I am really hoping this is not the end of her fight! Any kind of victory can be so beneficial for dare I say hundreds of thousands of us!

You expressed so many of my own personal feelings, it felt like I was reading something I myself had written. Respectful yet pointed and direct. Bravo!

i was looking up my old hard copies that i printed out through the years from jwd, and came across this powerful post by "outaservice".. it is an open letter written by a "gaila noble" from arizona.
it was posted on january 30, 2002 by outaservice, and he gave me permission to copy/paste it into a new thread, for the benefit of all the newbies and others who have never seen it.
thanks, outa.. hope this works.. you may not remember, but i know you very well.
How bitterly true!
Thanks for posting Hubert.
Q
i spent the weekend with some relatives.
they have an fairly extensive library of jw material going back 50 years in their spare bedroom.
i was looking at a few items when i found a program for the divine victory convention held in winnipeg, manitoba in 1973. the convention lasted 5 days.
I was 7. We went to Laramie, WY. I too remember a lot of ranting about 1975.
Q
if you are reading this board and are having doubts, then please do not rush into baptism.
wait until you are grown, and only then do it if you honestly feel you need to.
once you are baptized, they own you, and you will most likely be shunned if you are ever baptized.
EXCELLENT advice!! I was only 13 yrs old, what a mistake! I strongly feel that baptism should only be allowed for adults at least 21 years of age. What do you think the annual report would look like if this rule existed??
Q
i'm thinking about joining the aaa auto club.
my car is getting along in years and isn't going to get replaced any time soon.
i'm imagining that my stranded-on-the-side-of-the-road moment is imminent.
The AAA club in Rutherford's day meant Available After Armaggedon.
Q
warning: the wtbts is becoming more cultish as evidenced in this mp3.
listener take heed.
turn on all your cult warning alarms on.. .
What utter nonsense!!! 'Jehovah does not send his people where he knows they will be killed???? What about Nazi Germany, Poland, Russia etc......
Q
reasons, not excuses -- even valid ones (like, "i was ignorant, depressed, fooled").. yours in the sense that you can still own (to) them -- even though you now know the "answer" was wrong.. this obviously applies to those who became jws -- hence mostly not born-in, although some of the latter might admit to having chosen the jw way for themselves at a certain stage of their childhood or teenage years.. this question is triggered by a previous conversation with purplesofa on another thread:.
i think most of us that came in and not born in were searching.
our hearts were pure in our search.
I concur with Sir and Fleshly- I would assume it's this way for most "raised in the truth" kids.
Q
ok growing up jw, i was clueless about how 'the world' worked.
i had some weird ideas that took a long time to dispell.
one that i got fairly quickly, and embarassingly was when at school, after easter vacation (still was that, then!
That the "End" would surely come before I graduated grammar school, then before I graduated High School, then before I was 30 and most assuredly before the year 2000! How naive can one be?
