What is harder? Making a new jw or bringing one out?
by EndofMysteries ini find it interesting how stories of people waking or bringing one out are like the opposite of jw experiences bringing one in.
maybe we should start an ex jw yearbook for experiences of those coming out haha.

"Bible Teach" book study--is it real?
by AmyWatson916 injw's want to begin a study through their new "what does the bible really teach?
" book.
should a non-jw study with them just to point out the contradictions and muddled thinking in the book?

Hey welcome,
Don't get involved, they just want to clock preaching hours for their timesheets. Don't give them a chance.

I feel frustrated
by BlackWolf inhello all, things for the most part have been somewhat better for me because my parents haven't talked about baptism or anything recently.
i got a scholarship to go to art camp for a few weeks which has been fun (since its free, my parents didn't refuse) but it has also been very nervewracking for me.
i haven't been around any non jws for more than a year and its like being in a different world, a world where people are actually real and genuine and not mindless drones.

Just make friends exchange emails, etc. I figure if you can be on this site, then email should be fairly easy. You CAN be friends, you just wont be able to meet up; due to your parents decision NOT YOURS. You are telling them that you can't be their friend because of religion; I think it would be easier for them to understand if you were to say your parents are strict. Yet, you will still make the effort to reach out to them.

i understand the feeling having someone reinstates especially after 16 years.
but why did they have to suffer this long.

I bet he's awake! It isn't sad that he grew old 'away' from Jehovah. It means he saved himself 16 years of wear and tear on the body that comes with being a JW.

I'm getting baptized
by BlackWolf ini know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.
my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.
i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

I would say that you need more time to think about it because you fear being disfellowshipped and them not talking to you. If they use the fear of driving a car/drivers license example say but you fear losing your family which is completely different.
If all else fails play the mental health card. Say god spoke to u and told u not to do it. Heck, do what you have to do.
If you do go ahead and get baptised then becareful being on sites like this and becareful what you say because you can be disfellowshipped the day after baptism.

Suppose I ought to introduce myself.....
by Andy Dufresne ini've left a couple of semi-"humorous" remarks, but not yet said a proper hello....but firstly thank you, to all, for this site and all its comments.i have been lurking on this site for 4-5 years, awake for 5-6 years and seriously fading for the last 4 years.
i am now "out" and widely considered "out" by the congregation but due being very cautious and playing a very long game, (and having a wife who understand the repercussions of blowing the whistle on the few viewpoints i have discussed with her) i have not been df'd of da'd.
this forum has been a crutch and guide as well as helping me wake - and the humour many on here use has been a welcome relief.

The danger of thinking we know everything.
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred that there is a danger in thinking we know everything, or have it all figured out in life.
especially when it comes to matters of doctrine or faith.. witnesses (or at least the society as a whole) are so self-confident, so proud to be the only ones who know "the truth" about everything to do with the universe, the earth, our past and our future, that pride kicks in.
and pride is dangerous...(.and before a fall).

I remember when I had learned the truth, I was filled with pride. I was so proud of Jehovah's organization, and the fact that millions of other people believed the EXACT same doctrine as me. I was proud that Jehovah's spirit had drawen me to the Truth™...little ol me, who was hand picked by Jehovah. I eventually began looking down on non-witnesses. One day it all came crashing down and I went from prideful to humble. I learned of the many doctrine changes in the past and I felt confused. -

So you should return due to the fear of dying at Armageddon and not out of love for Jehovah.
