I bet he's awake! It isn't sad that he grew old 'away' from Jehovah. It means he saved himself 16 years of wear and tear on the body that comes with being a JW.

I'm getting baptized
by BlackWolf ini know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.
my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.
i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

I would say that you need more time to think about it because you fear being disfellowshipped and them not talking to you. If they use the fear of driving a car/drivers license example say but you fear losing your family which is completely different.
If all else fails play the mental health card. Say god spoke to u and told u not to do it. Heck, do what you have to do.
If you do go ahead and get baptised then becareful being on sites like this and becareful what you say because you can be disfellowshipped the day after baptism.

Suppose I ought to introduce myself.....
by Andy Dufresne ini've left a couple of semi-"humorous" remarks, but not yet said a proper hello....but firstly thank you, to all, for this site and all its comments.i have been lurking on this site for 4-5 years, awake for 5-6 years and seriously fading for the last 4 years.
i am now "out" and widely considered "out" by the congregation but due being very cautious and playing a very long game, (and having a wife who understand the repercussions of blowing the whistle on the few viewpoints i have discussed with her) i have not been df'd of da'd.
this forum has been a crutch and guide as well as helping me wake - and the humour many on here use has been a welcome relief.

The danger of thinking we know everything.
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred that there is a danger in thinking we know everything, or have it all figured out in life.
especially when it comes to matters of doctrine or faith.. witnesses (or at least the society as a whole) are so self-confident, so proud to be the only ones who know "the truth" about everything to do with the universe, the earth, our past and our future, that pride kicks in.
and pride is dangerous...(.and before a fall).

I remember when I had learned the truth, I was filled with pride. I was so proud of Jehovah's organization, and the fact that millions of other people believed the EXACT same doctrine as me. I was proud that Jehovah's spirit had drawen me to the Truthâ„¢...little ol me, who was hand picked by Jehovah. I eventually began looking down on non-witnesses. One day it all came crashing down and I went from prideful to humble. I learned of the many doctrine changes in the past and I felt confused. -

So you should return due to the fear of dying at Armageddon and not out of love for Jehovah.

This topic gave me a good laugh. But how am I to distugish Armageddon from just another natural disaster? Might as well pray to all the Gods + jehovah because ya never know which one will show up and rescue ya. -

by Joliette ini couldnt take seeing people from the kingdom hall.
you guys wouldnt believe how many jehovahs witnesses shop in the goodwill.
i couldnt take it.

I wouldn't have quit my job because of them. After all, the Jehovah's witnesses don't pay my bills! But at least you won't have to see em!

Diddling, adjusting, changing Doctrines? Why not leave it alone?
by Terry ini have kept on asking myself why the jw's put targets on themselves by constant diddling with their own doctrines?
why not leave it alone?.
mainstream christianity has fixed teachings.
-
naazira
They don't have fixed teachings because it's a way of weeding out the disloyal ones. Only those who are truly loyal will remain. -

Can a DFed person donate?
by Lostandfound inrereading a post re the shunning wt in feb made me think, do the wt accept money from the dead?
not inheritances but from the "living dead" as they perceive df and da people to be.. personally i think they accept or more correctly badger members who are really brain dead into giving.
or do attendants guard contribution boxes to stop such non existent people from putting money in.

If they encourage children to donate their ice cream money, then I'm sure they have no problem taking it from the Disfellowshipped person.
