My mother actually made up a JW board game. She initially had disfellowship on the board but removed it in her 2.0 version so as not to stumble anyone. She also made up a Bible Jeopardy. It makes me sad that she is still caught up. She is very intelligent.

Old Light,New Light,A Witness Board Game
by EmptyInside inthis is silly, but i thought of a witness board game version of monopoly.
the big difference would be how the players would move on the board.. if they pick up an "old light" card, they move backwards,a "new light" card forward to different levels of ms,elder, etc.
they could buy and sell watchtower properties along the way.

My mother had my oldest brother and someone else catch my father with his girlfriend. Prior to this my mother said he was emotionally abusive. She told me she fell out of love after year 2 but had to stay in a loveless marriage since she was JW. It took her 20 yrs to get a so-called scriptural divorce.

What exactly is a relasionship with God?
by tootired2care ingrowing up and jw and being around them all my life i constantly heard the expression "a relasionship with god".
this always confused me, because how do you have a relasionship with someone that doesn't talk back to you after praying?
this was always rationalized as god talks back to you when you read the bible.

I believe God/dess is within and without. A relationship with the Divine is personal, different for everyone.

Do you have a favourite scripture?
by Ucantnome ini have two.. luke 4.
16 he went to nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom.
he stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet isaiah was handed to him.

The Song of Solomon *bow chicka wow wow*
But seriously, I do like the one about the fruits of the spirit - love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, self-control. Can't remember the chapter / verse.
PS. I posted a blank post and can't seem to delete it :(

Honestly I've had flashes of going back, sorta like the Stockholm Syndrome. But to answer the question - no. I would have used some adjectives with that "no" but I'm new here and don't wanna get banned. The tree of knowledge tastes way too good. I can't go back to eating rations.

When asked why couldn't she be happy for my newfound path, my mother told me via email "I love you but I love Jehovah more". I can't imagine serving a god like that.

My Partner and I have been together for 10 years today!
by ohiocowboy ini am very proud that we have been together for 10 years!
being raised a jw, it was always hard for me to find a long term relationship.
most people that i met weren't interested in anything long term, and each time one ended, it left me feeling like i would never find someone who shared the same feelings.

How did/does your congregation view going out to eat AFTER the Memorial?
by OneDayillBeFree infor us it used to be a big no-no, but i think it has slowly grown more acceptable since many of our elders would be starving during the whole reject jesus party.... i always thought it was a bit funny when i saw brothers and sisters almost celebrating with a big feast and drinks on the night that the good ol' messiah sacrificed himself for all humankind!
it seems now more recently that since it is the only thing witnessess can celebrate, they go all out!
maybe i'll join in the festivities too.. so what about you guys?

Since this was the only holiday we celebrated, we usually went out to dinner afterwards. And because we were poor, we got Memorial clothes. We made a point of dressing up alike either same color or the same outfits.
