God promised that David's line of kingship would go on forever, and it has through Jesus. IF God had killed David, then He would have had to break His promise, not to mention there'd be no Davidic line of kingship for Jesus to be born into. God's greater plan had to go on in spite of David's sins.

Was jehovah/yahweh/god the first to commit an abortion?!
by OneDayillBeFree injust caught this in today's watchtower!
while the wtb&ts is going on about all of david's sins and how god was being a "god of love" and showing forgiveness to his servants, (keyword: his= only jehovah's witnesses) i decided to go ahead and start reading the whole story about what really happened.
so then i stumbled upon 2 samuel 12:15&18 .

America And Marriage
by metatron inhttp://www.commentarymagazine.com/2013/01/17/americas-exodus-from-marriage/.
the watchtower is entering a culture that is increasingly secular and resistant to change.
i don't share the pessimism of articles such as these as long as abortion is available.. cold as that sounds, i believe it makes a huge difference to a child if he or she is loved and wanted - a big positive for society.. metatron.

People are stupid.
By the time a mother even knows she's pregnant the baby already has a working brain, nervous system, and heartbeat.
Because it has this nervous system already in working order, this means it that it can also feel pain. So, because the baby is inconvenient, the mother is willing to either burn it to death with saline solution, or rip it apart painfully to shreds by other means. Now, if we were to do that to any animal, we'd be jailed for animal abuse. If we were to do such a thing to any other person, we'd be imprisoned for murder.
BUT.... because this entity is silent and tiny, we can simply inflict this abuse simply for the convenience of it all.
Oh, but the mother isn't ready to be a mom?
THEN KEEP YOUR DAMNED LEGS CLOSED! Masturbation does not get you pregnant! And what the h..... is wrong with giving the baby to a childless couple who WANTS the baby? SELFISH CRAP!The mother was a rape victim?
HOW IS THAT AN EXCUSE TO KILL A LIVING BEING?(and before you slaughter me on this, I once was a rape victim at age 16; gang rape; no birth control, scared of impregnation, dealt with it anyway)At what point is a baby a person? Who decides this?
I had one idiot tell me that the already-borns were of more priority than the unborns. REALLY?
EVERY ALREADY-BORN USED TO BE AN UNBORN! If no unborns were priority, none of us would have a chance!RANT OVER.

Former Bethelites, please settle this argument
by Resistance is Futile ini was recently talking to a friend that's a former jw, and she argued that there are just as many women that live at bethel as there are men.
admittedly, we're both slightly ignorant on the subject, since neither of us have actually lived at or even visited bethel.
i've made the assumption that there are significantly more men than women at bethel, am i correct?.

I've never been to Bethel. However, in my experience, the only women I personally knew who live in Bethel were all who happened to be married to MEN who were in Bethel.

Why WTBTS Disfellowshipping Works...
by AGuest into the household of god, israel, and those who go with... may you all have peace!.
i just wanted to share with you, briefly, what i have come to understand as to why disfellowshipping by the wtbts works... why it can continue being fomented as it is.
i realize there are pages and pages of studies regarding cults and cult mindsets, etc., but i am not going to inundate you with such but rather try to keep this simple.

I was disfellowshipped as an apostate because I began a website which showed Bible truth instead of Watchtower Society truth.... plus I wouldn't shut up about my then-recent discovery of the UN/NGO scandal. It was my own family members who turned me in, so they already knew what my judicial and appeal committees were for; I didn't have to explain anything to them.
That was in 2004, and they have nothing to do with me unless they happen to need something I can provide. And, because they ARE my family, I do help them when they ask. Just because they choose to take the low road doesn't mean I can't take the high road.

Dilemna on shepherding
by happy@last inmy wife told me of a friend of hers who is going through a difficult time in their life.
they are what i would describe as a 'blind follower' of wt teachings, but it does give them structure that would otherwise not be there in their life.
anyhow, this person is having a tough time, the elders know about it and yet not one of them has either visited or called to see how they are!.
-
JWOP
By letting the Elders continue to handle it their way, and by you and your wife stepping in to fill the void, I think that may help the friend see the futility of the Elders and the true support of regular friends.

I haven't stepped inside a KH since November 2004, during my Appeals Committee. I was disfellowshipped as an apostate, and my only regret is that I didn't have the wherewithal to handle it with my family better.

What Was Your "Status" Within The Organization?
by minimus inwere you a sought after associate?.
were you often invisible?.
did other witnesses view you as "exemplary"?.

Born-in, second generation. My family was loving, but low on finances, so we had no prestige. I was just one of the herd until I turned into a filthy rotten apostate and was DF'd.

Clapping at the meetings and assembly
by NewYork44M ini had a random thought this morning about clapping.
growing up in the wt culture i learned the proper protocol for clapping.
before the assembly speaker gave his talk, but not after.

JWOP
I always hated the clapping when my children were babies because it always woke them up and made them cry. It got so that I'd try to cover their ears before the clapping began so they wouldn't wake up in terror from the sudden noise.
I also remember another incident:
I grew up when we'd always clap when someone was announced as being reinstated. Then I got disfellowshipped in 1987, reinstated in 1993. The day before my reinstatement my father took me aside to "warn" me that nobody would be clapping -- because there was new instruction that reinstated ones shouldn't be clapped for. He told me this so I wouldn't misunderstand the lack of clapping and get discouraged.
