by JWOP inhello everyone!.
sometime in the recent past i swear i found a quote in the wt literature where rutherford made some kind of statement that they do not teach russell's teachings.
i've been looking for it for two frustrating hours, ugh!so i figured "crowd sourcing" here might help..... anyone know where i can find it?.

I was 17. I was pressured into it because I was a born-in who "should be ready by now!". In reality, I was SOOOOOO NOT ready: Had a secret boyfriend who I had been sleeping with. Couldn't tell my parents about him though, for obvious reasons. I rationalized to myself that I would just stop having sex with him after my baptism.... but of course, that didn't happen. Everyone kept pestering me to get baptized, so I finally did it just to get them off my back.

Sickening Dilemma
by ItsMyLife ini would like to have your opinions on what i should do about a situation please.. i have recently discovered that a 'brother' in the congregation (which i no longer attend) is a child molester.
i've seen documentation from his psychiatrist dated a few years ago, stating that he doesn't feel that this person is likely to offend again.
the 'brother' has said to the elders at some point that he has it under control but cannot be 100% sure it won't happen again.

I agree that the police need to know, and the girlfriend needs to know! I would be devastated if my children were hurt because someone didn't warn me. That's damage that never ever leaves a child, and breaks them to the point that they sometimes become child molesters themselves.
Do the right thing, TELL her and TELL the police.

What does Disfellowshiping really mean?
by nolongerconfused innot sure if i spelled the word right, but:.
as some of you probably know i'm no longer active and have stopped attending etc...etc.... if one is disfellowshipped for whatever reason, including not agreeing with wtb doctrine...does the wtbs consider you worthy of death come armageddon?
i saw the trial transcript and that's what they believed in the 50's...anyone have any recent quote from their publications explaining how they see a disfellowshipped person?.

Being Df'd means that your JW family and friends will no longer have anything to do with you.
You MAY get a call if a family member has died, but even that's an iffy.
If you are DF'd for a regular sin (smoking, fornication, etc...) you may get some encouraging words if you accidentally run into a Witness, but that's not a guarantee.
If you are DF'd for apostasy, you become spiritual poison, and all will avoid you like the plague.
If you are still living with JW family member(s), such member(s) will be greatly uncomfortable in your presence until you and they get used to the situation. Unless it's your spouse, in which case your marriage will need lots of attention if you hope to hold on to him/her.
Wish I had better news to tell you.

This thread has me remembering past things, LOL!
I remember when I, as a devout JW, dutifully picked up my order of mags twice each month. I ordered 10 Watchtowers and 10 Awakes for each order -- surely I can place ten sets every two weeks, right?
But I seemed to keep finding myself with stacks of old, unplaced mags thinking "I really need to get out in service more in order to get these placed!"
Wow. What a stooge.

my elderly JW dad--continued
by bigmac insome readers may recall a thread about my old dad coming to live with me.. after a short time he had to be hospitalised--and now he is in a care home.
ive taken over all his financial affairs--including selling his house.. ive been clearing out the house--and--needless to say--came across tons of wt books--years of old magazines--1000's of them--plus bound volumes going back to the year dot.
i asked him what he wanted me to do with them--and he said dispose of them!.

I'm wondering how much personal information was in those congregational records. Perhaps they should have been shredded first?

Was jehovah/yahweh/god the first to commit an abortion?!
by OneDayillBeFree injust caught this in today's watchtower!
while the wtb&ts is going on about all of david's sins and how god was being a "god of love" and showing forgiveness to his servants, (keyword: his= only jehovah's witnesses) i decided to go ahead and start reading the whole story about what really happened.
so then i stumbled upon 2 samuel 12:15&18 .

Band On the Run:
Like anyone else, I try to make sense of things that are tough to understand. I try to reconcile things that are horrible in the Bible. And I believe that if God really wanted that baby destroyed, He would have done it in utero. Instead He allowed him to be born, which I believe allowed him to be covered under Christ's blood. The verse says that God struck the baby with an illness.... it is my opinion that the baby was actually born with some kind of congenital condition that God didn't heal. That happens to many babies born every day.
I know I don't have all the answers, but I do believe in God, and I do believe there is some reason for what happened, even if I don't understand it yet.
