The Watchtower Society's religion puts a lot of people in harm's way: Death from lack of blood transfusions, pedolphiles allowed to continue their perversion, the family-breaking practice of extreme shunning, the ignoring of spousal abuse and the bullying tactics of many elders, just to name a few. Because this religion is so harmful I can't just "live and let live" with this one. People need to be warned, they need to know exactly what they're getting into BEFORE they get talked into committing to it.

The KH I grew up in had its own built-in baptismal pool in the basement. It was used up until around 1991'ish, when an Assembly Hall was constructed. Then the KH pool was removed because the AH had its own.

What piece of WT literature is worth holding onto, or have you kept? Why?
by losingit ini have basically thrown away all of my bound volumes and loose wt and awake magazines.
i kept some bpoks, the insight to the scriptures, god's love, the reasoning book, and daniel's prophecies (this was my favorite) .
i held onto insight to the scriptures after reading some of ray franz's book, crisis of conscience.

I still have one of their Bibles for reference purposes. I also still have the 2009 Watchtower Library CD ROM installed on my computer, also for reference purposes.

Does the borg really produce great readers? How much did you actually read when in?
by likeabird ini've been reading a lot and learning even more (project deadlines to meet), getting this overwhelming satisfaction and feeling good.. and then i stopped and realised that i never got that feeling when reading borg publications.. i also realized that i have probably read more non-fiction books in the last month than i did during my whole life in the borg.. for all my reading (and i was fully in) i read no more than two wt books cover to cover.
none of my study books were studied cover to cover and wts were usually quickly underlined and rarely properly studied.
magazines were usually flicked through and resolutions to read them cover to cover rarely lasted more than a few weeks.. i did manage to read the bible through once - but that was because i was always afraid someone door to door would ask me if i had, so i figured i should just crack on with it.

Oh, and I also know a woman who came to be a JW with her hubby after they'd been married a while. Before meeting the Witnesses she didn't know how to read at all. Through the "Bible Studies" she was taught to read and became a very good reader before her baptism. Although I don't think the JW thing was good for her, I still believe giving her the ability to read was a good thing.

One of the very few good things about having been raised a JW is that it did give me a good reading ability. Not only was there lots of reading involved, but they often used unusual words (which also gave me a good basis on using the dictionary, LOL!). Although the material was also boring and dry, I do feel it did hone my reading skills.

Are there people who have returned
by His Excellency inconsidering all the consequences of leaving the organization (especially the loss of family), some who have already known ttat have decided to return and continue with the flow just to keep their families and friend.. my question is if anyone here had tried it and how they have been managing living a lie constantly day-after-day?, as i am seriously considering returnning back to the full routine..

HisExcellency,
There was a woman who was df'd, but she got herself reinstated for the purpose of going back in to get her grown daughter out of it. Her plan worked, though it took her lots of patience and some time. She wrote a book about the experience:

"Dear Abby" had a similar question recently, and this was her advice in a nutshell:
Unless there is some element of repulsion, it will not remain innocent for long.
Break it off, and fast, if something about the person does not repulse you.
