Amen to that Listener. Our gut feeling that JW friendships, for the most part, have no depth has been resoundingly confirmed. Everything is for show.

The New Diary of Winston Smith
by WinstonSmith inwe had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.
fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.
i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

So it has been more than a couple of months now since Mrs Smith and I went to a meeting. In the last week or so people must have started to notice as we have received a couple of text and Facebook messages. Still absolutely NOTHING from any elder. Loving concerned shepherds? Heeeeeeell no.
It has been interesting reading the banal, emotionless, and stock standard (and therefore meaningless) phrases coming from God's chosen people i.e. "true Christians." This what we have received:
"Thinking of you."
"Thinking of you, I had a bible study today and her husband said she shouldn't study but she said she wants to keep on, Jehovah will help her."
"Didn't see you at the CA it was about guarding our mind. Meditation is medication."
"How are you guys? Been thinking of you."
I swear to Thor if I hear the phrase "thinking of you" again, I am going to vomit. What an utterly meaningless phrase when coming from people who obviously have no interest in you.
Compare this with a message we got from a non JW friend (a Muslim in fact) who knows that we are fading:
"I know things must be difficult for you, hang in there. If you ever need anything from me just call and I will come straight over. Take care!"
LOL JWs, you fail, and you fail hard.

I've heard people come back from tours (not sure which site) and talk about seeing an area that was like a memorial spot for anointed ones who had made the jump to hyperspace. They said it was nicknamed 'The Launching Pad.'
It was a while back though, and the ol' memory may be patchy!

1984 ...
by EdenOne in"talking to her, he realized how easy it was to present an appearance of orthodoxy while having no grasp whatever of what orthodoxy meant.
in a way, the world-view of the party governing body imposed itself most successfully on people incapable of understanding it.
they could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of reality, because they never fully grasped the enormity of what was demanded of them, and were not sufficiently interested in public events to notice what was happening.

Hi Pickler, what a great thing to share with your family I think it helps children see how big the world is and help them understand why the world is shaped as it is today.
Its another Saturday here in Australia, looking forward to doing what normal people do - tidy up the house, wash the car, do some shopping, sip a coffee and people-watch in a cafe. So nice to not have to worry about field service or the meetings.
I like this.
I like this a lot.

Husband has joined me in being inactive.
by Julia Orwell inthat's right, and it's great!
i don't know exactly why because he hasn't turned apostate and still seems to believe jw things.
i don't feel comfortable in asking him why he doesn't go to meetings anymore for some reason, or find out what he believes and if the things i've told him bout ttatt influenced his decision.

Hello Julia,
This is indeed good news. The longer one is away from the meetings, the harder it is to go back. So keep each other busy and before you know it, six months will have passed and life will be a whole lot happier. You'll have to endure some people trying to find out what's going on, but ride it out and they will soon move on to other things.
Very glad to hear your news :-)

jwstudy: What was the general reaction of the people in attendance? Were they ecstatic to have more spiritual food from the slave.
We thought that the book of Matthew was an odd choice for a release. Any suggestions as to why the Governing Body decided on this book?
Are there many apostates / faders / doubters in Japan?
Sorry for all the questions, we don't often hear from Japan so its great to hear from 'the inside'.
Stay safe :-)
