The New Study
by Beans indear brothers and sisters:.
as the new flock moves ahead into the generation of apostacy are we as brothers and sisters helping each other?
if there were an apostfest would it not be right to perhaps pick up a brother or sister who may not have transportation and is in need of a pint?.

Another person thinks that I am The Society -- they are studying with "my people". At least he/she read enough to get a good dose of cognitive dissonance. Not wanting to appear rude, I sent a reply. And not wanting to take a chance that the people he/she is studying with can talk their way out of the "errors in the bible" quote, I gave him/her a few other things to think about:Thanks for taking the time to write to us. The subject of your message was "question" but you did not include a question in your message. However, you did mention the statement that was published by the Watchtower Society regarding "errors in the bible". This is not the only unusual, interesting, or significant thing published by the Watchtower Society over the years. Some of these things were later renounced, some where not. Further attention to our website will reveal such gems as:
- belief that Blacks are inferior to Whites but can turn their skin white if they pray enough
- belief that God resides on the star Alcyone in the Pleiades star cluster
- belief that the Great Pyramid in Egypt is " God's Stone Witness "
- belief that Aluminium Cookware is poisonous and cancer causing
- belief that a raped woman is guilty of fornication if she does not scream
- instruction that a wife is NOT entitled to a scriptural divorce if her husband commits homosexual acts
- belief that masturbation leads to homosexuality
- predicting the end of the world would come in 1914 , 1925 , 1975
- saying that Jesus' invisible presence began in 1840 , 1872 , 1874 , 1878 , 1914 , 1918 , 1925 , 1975
- meanwhile, while delivering the above "spiritual food", The Watchtower Society chose for itself the titles " God's Channel " and " God's Prophet " and " God's Organization " -- lofty titles indeed!
- becoming officially (but secretly) associated with the United Nations , an organization they publicly denounce as "the disgusting thing of Daniel's Prophecy"

The Watchtower's answer to any problem
by radar instudy, prayer and the ministry.
of all the shepherding calls that i know of, and no matter what the problem the flock may have encountered, essentially the same advice was given.
most elders have neither the experience or understanding or right to judge personal matters such as marital concerns or child abuse.

From "Why Jehovahs Witnesses have mental problems" (http://www.premier1.net/~raines/mental.html) :
To refer patients to the elders, virtually none of whom have formal training in psychology, therapy or human behavior, is often a drastic mistake. When the writer suggested to a male Bethelite who was going through severe depression to talk to the elders, his response was "Do you think a janitor and a brush salesman are going to help me with my emotional problems?" As has been well documented, elders tend to feel that the solution to every problem is to pray, study more, and trust in Jehovah. Besides, they feel the guilt over whatever emotional problems one is suffering from are likely due to some sin or shortcoming on the victim's part. In my experience, the elders often do more harm than good, which is what we would expect: putting people who have not only no training, but a false view of humanity and a distorted perception of reality in charge of an emotionally disturbed person could well be lethal--as it sometimes is.

what did you miss in order to attend meetings?
by jack2 infor me, it was the nfc championship game three years ago in order to attend the meeting, then, on top of that, the elders had *scheduled* a meeting for that day as well, to discuss the co visit.
then there was a "supplemental" elder's school held a few years back that took me away from the afc title game.
oh, i taped the stuff, but time-shift recording of sports just doesn't cut it.

Quotes
While in Middle School, I was in the Band (1st Trombone) -- no doubt because it was non-competitive, unlike sports. Now this school was serious about it's music program, and if my dad acknowledged that, maybe I would not have been allowed. Fortunately he never figured it out.
The practices were:
Monday 7:30AM to 8:30AM
Wednesday 7:30AM to 8:30AM
Thursday 6:30PM to 9:00PM UH OH!!!! Thursday nights were also.... BOOK STUDY NIGHT (and our home was privileged to be a Book Study location) from 7:30PM to 8:30PM
So, for two years, I had to leave band practice 30 minutes into what was supposed to be a 2.5 hour session to go home for the Book Study. What a drag! What a waste! What an embarrassment to be the only one to bail out on my team! It was worse than standing in the hall during National Anthem, because in this case I was deserting the team.
One Thursday per month I was permitted to stay for the entire band practice. Yes, sometimes my parents were dangerous rebels!

According to http://www.brideandgroom.com/tradition.htm:
THROWING RICE
Throwing rice over newlyweds originated from the ancient Pagan rite of showering the happy couple with grain to wish upon them a 'fruitful' union. Pagans believed that the fertility of the seeds would be transferred to the couple on whom they fell.

The Meeting Clothes I Left Behind
by dobby inthis past weekend my husband and son and i went to stay with my jw in-laws.. it was a pleasant weekend.
they were a little subdued this weekend, i think the assembly got to them and they seemed less open to discussing our feelings about the wt.. a very interesting thing happened as we packed to go on sunday morning.
i was in the guest room folding clothes into our suitcase when my father-in-law tapped on the door.
